I wouldn't mind if they offered all of their OOP pressed DVDs as MOD DVDs in the Screen Classics by Request program. It would prevent the trouble of tracking them down and paying outrageous prices on the secondary market. The Swimmer, Fat City, Bonjour Tristesse, California Split, etc.

This program gives me hope that I may soon own these 3 of the remaining 6 titles on my DVD wishlist (written in 1997):

  • Yor: The Hunter From The Future

  • The Hellstrom Chronicles

  • Warlords Of Atlantis

Some sites that only ship to domestic addresses will accept payment from any credit card (for example, Best Buy only ship within the USA, but people in other countries can still buy stuff on their site and have it sent to a US address, allowing them for example to buy gifts for their American friends). HOWEVER it is not unusual for other sites to reject cards that have non-US billing addresses, or even (though this is more unusual) to insist that goods can only be sent to the billing address and nowhere else. Evidently that is what is happening here.

The solution is simple: order what you want from DeepDiscount - they accept orders from outside the USA and will ship to same with no problem, and they carry all of the Sony MOD titles.

thanks for your informative reply. Unfortunately Deep Discount dont ship to business/forwarding addresses just domestic addresses. Critcs Choice look a better and safer bet!

Why don't you have them send the titles you want to your UK address? They do ship overseas.

i would do but their pp charges for overseas are very high. Also I am a specialist dealer for UK customers and need to protect my margins! I found out that Movies unlimited offer COLUMBIA CLASSICS and I know them well so although these wont be available till mid october they look like the best bet.

In my humble opinion, DD's shipping charges are much cheaper than the ones from Movies Unlimited, especially when you buy many titles. An order worth $ 100 (that equals approx. 5 MOD discs) costs $ 12,95 at DD. At Movies Unlimited you have to pay $ 26 to a foreign country, according to the shopping basket.

It's only cheaper when you order stuff worth more than $300, because DD changes to UPS then and you have to pay $ 99 flat.

I ordered one of the Sony titles from Deep Discount to save a few bucks, and after a week I cancelled the order because it never shipped. I placed the order through the Sony website and I got a shipping confirmation that day.

I put in 2 orders at dd for 7 titles . The first shipped on the 16th . I havn't received it yet . Two are still on order and the other four have been sent in three shipments . When i ordered them i figured they would be sent in two shipments . Not too sure what i was thinking . I ordered them all on the same day that the sony mods became available on DD .

I have been pissing and moaning about DD shipping for quite some time now . But i think this is the straw that broke the camels back . I order from many different online stores and always use free shipping . I have received three different orders from other stores since i put in my DD order . And all of those orders were put in over a week after the DD orders.

At this point i still have not received one of the titles . Two have not shipped and the ones that did are in four different shipments . I'm not a happy camper .

Deep Discount has become essentially worthless to me. Part or all of my last several orders with them have taken weeks to months to ship... some of that due to items that were suddenly out-of-stock at DD just after I ordered them (but readily available everywhere else) being on back-order for literally months at a time. Pretty ridiculous.

I have long since resolved to spend the few extra bucks at DVD Empire or Amazon and get my order within a week tops, rather than save a buck (sometimes not even that) and wait months for DD to fulfill an order. They are so slow these days, it seems as if they are being run out of someone's garage with a single employee processing all their transactions.

Yep, it doesn't take much to get to the point where it becomes worth a couple more bucks to get real service. Which, in my experience, is what DD (or back when they were DDD) used to offer. The media mail might still have been slower than others, but the stuff shipped right away, almost every time.

I'm the same with DD. I used to buy from them fairly regularly but it seemed that, when they became DDD and started carrying books, etc, it's not been the same service.

Their shipping/packing quality isn't what it used to be either. DD is the only online store where I received one TV/DVD set completely crushed, case and all. I never got that refund/exchange resolved either. There was another time where I returned a DVD for an exchange (defect) and they claimed that they never received my return pkg.

Those things have never happened using Amazon.

It appears my 4 title order from DD is being shipped one at a time every six or so days. Last week I got an email saying one title was on it's way, today I got an email another single title has been shipped. This will be the last chance DD will get from me. They may be cheaper, but it just takes to long. It's not that I want them in day, but over 14 days is a little much.

I received four of the columbia mods in the mail today . They were sent out by DD on the 23 . On my order page i was told they were sent in 3 different shipments . But luckily they were sent in one .

That still leaves 2 in the mail from DD . One sent out on the 15th and the other on the 17th .And two still on order .

Over the last year i have found that multi disc shipments from DD get to me in around a week to ten days . Single disc shipments take two to three weeks .

They claim there is no reason for that . But this has been the case in every shipment i've received from them .

By the way i received The 27th Day,Valley of the Dragons,Winter a Go Go and The Executioner today . Can't wait to pop one in tonight .

Yeah, it's been almost a month since I bought the 2 Kino Buster Keaton Blu-rays from DD and still no sign of being shipped. A huge purchase from their silent Kino sale is mostly fulfilled, but still has some on backorder.

Fortunately, all of my Olive Films releases for this month were shipped to get here very close to the release date, so I will continue to buy Olive titles cheap there since they seem to keep them well stocked.

3 of the 4 "Hart to Hart" movies were shipped yesterday. One of them (for some reason) is said to be out of stock. So I'm still waiting for that one to be shipped.

Has anyone had a better experience ordering directly from Sony's store? I think this is the first and last time I order from Deep Discount.
