And can I add this is shaping up to be possibly the worst mix-tape ever made. I will say prayers for your ears. :)

More Bowie:

From the (terrible) album Never Let Me Down, song: "Dont Look Down"

I went this morning to the cemetary
To see old Rudy Valentino buried
Lipstick traces on his name
He never looked down

and Valentino again a few years earlier from Bowie's album Young Americans, the song "Somebody up There Likes Me":

Tell me, can they hold you under their spell (oh oh)
Can they walk and hold you as well as a
Smile like valentino?

Valentino is evidently a cliche.

Cyndi Lauper's "Waiting for Valentino"

Waiting for Valentino
His dark eyes lock on mine
Waiting for Valentino
To carry me off through time

How about:

Jimmy Buffett = "They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More" - Carmen Miranda

Elton John = "Roy Rodgers" - obvious

The song you mentioned containing the line "Goodbye Hollywood Boulevard" is a song by the Kinks titled "Celluloid Heroes."

Nope. That song's already been mentioned, and it doesn't include the line you quote - nowhere does anyone say "goodbye Hollywood Boulevard".

Maybe Eric's thinking of Billy Joel's "Say Goodbye to Hollywood"? It doesn't include the line "Goodbye Hollywood Boulevard", but BJ does quote the title multiple times...

Self-update: the song with "goodbye Hollywood Boulevard" is from Ryan Adams. It's actually "goodNIGHT Hollywood Boulevard". I just did an Internet search, and that's what turned up right away!

Anyway, it's on Adams' album Gold...

Just heard another one:

Electrolite-REM

Lyrics go, "I'm Martin Sheen, I'm Steve McQueen, I'm Jimmy Dean."

Thanks a ton Colin. That's definitely the song that I was looking for. I'll probably order the album in my next Amazon order.
