Some Help Needed On Info On A Show (1 Viewer)

I have a vague recollection of a kids show I watched in the mid 70's. It took place in a library or an antique show or similar. Live action. For some reason, the name Curiosity Shop sticks in my head. For those "in the know," what was this show, when did it air, and what was the premise? Thanks

There was indeed a Kids show in the early 70s called Curiosity Shop. It ran on ABC from 1971 to 1973.

I saw it a few times; I think my older sisters were switching channels on me for the most part.

It was an educational/entertainment/variety show for kids created by Chuck Jones. It had animation featuring popular comic strip characters, and sometimes they would show bits of old silent movies, IIRC. They had lots of muppet-type puppets who would pop out of the walls and talk to the children on set. None of the original animated or puppet characters caught on, in the least, unfortunately.

I think the series suffered because there was simply too much going on. Kids' shows of this type need a set routine so younger viewers can focus. Curiosity Shop was pretty much: anything goes. I googled it; there's not much. Seems at least Shirley Jones and Vincent Price guest-starred at times. It ran for two seasons, but I don't think there's very many episodes. Nobody seems to know much about this show!

As for a dvd, it would be nice, but even if the tapes still exist, it may be a licensing nightmare because it appears there was a lot of music and they had cartoons of Dennis the Menace and Miss Peach...who knows...it would be worth it just to see the Dennis the Menace cartoons

It lasted long enough to have a lunch box made from it. As far as I know that is the only piece of merchandise that existed for the show.
