What's new

So you own the individual Bond releases on Blu-ray. Will you buy the set or wait? (1 Viewer)

I agree about the 007 menus. Those were really nice and I miss them.
I have no doubts that individual blu releases will follow for the remaining 9, simply because they've released individuals at every step. The 007 editions all came out individually and the UEs were released individually as well. If MGM or Fox thinks they can generate more sales, they'll happily do it.
As for the Star Wars movies, they were released individually on DVD. For the Blus, so far they've been available in the big set or by trilogy.
I agree with you. It's odd that Fox and MGM are not doing individual releases on the films as they did on most of them. Except for the UE DVD's? I recall initially there was a series of 4 box sets? I think the individual discs came later? I could be wrong on that..
I think individual releases of all of the Bond titles will come later. It's just a question of how long it will be. I heard that the Bond 50 set may be the only way to get them for quite a while. 12 months or longer.
Hopefully they get the individual releases out soon though.
Complete with original VHS artwork, and the old snapper DVD cases?
: )

If they hadn't put them in that big clumsy book and labeled the Blus themselves as if the set number were the big thing, I'd have bought it. In fact, I had it as a pre-order as the collection price wasn't bad when divided by the nine films I don't have and want to get in HD (all but the Craigs). It's about $20 per -- not bad at all.
But that big clumsy box -- ugh! and the disc labeling -- double UGH!
Therefore, canceled the pre-order -- something I never did before. To me, the Law & Order complete set is the measuring stick by which all should be judged -- a box with 20 individual shelf-compatible season sets inside. Excellent!

The UE discs were first released in the four volumes and then in individual releases a few months later.

Thanks!
Do you recall how long they waited? 6 months? Or maybe when Casino Royale came to DVD and blu ray in 2007?

I just realized I can apply accrued Discover Card points to purchases made at Amazon. This set will cost me nothing. Of course I'm getting it!

Opportunity-cost, my friend. You could be using those points for something else.

The UE box volumes were released in two pairs, one in 11/06 and the other in 12/06 as part of the marketing push for Casino Royale and holiday sales.
The individual discs began to come out by 2/07, including The Spy Who Loved Me, and others took up to 9/07, including Diamonds Are Forever.
The part I'm unclear about is whether all of the individual titles were out by 2/07 as 2-disc editions, since I understand the individuals were released again as bargain-priced single discs, without the bonus material on the second disc.

I will ether offer my neighbor my dvd's or donate them to the library! And since I only own 3 Bond movies on Blu-ray I will be picking up the entire set on Bluray! It will be nice to own them all in HD :D
Let me know if you want to get rid of your TND LD. I've wound up with a large amount of Bond on nearly every format and still can't stop.

' A No from Me' I decided to get away from the bond sets and go individual, since they always bring out new ones every so often, and with the info that is available on the Bond 50 set I am very disapointed that Casino Royale is just a single disc and not the 2-disc collector's edition which I already own.

Canceled my preorder last week. Then re-preordered over the weekend. Insanity? Well yeah... but that's not the reason. $150! That was the reason! :D:D

I am glacially going through the Bond canon chronologically with the Ultimate sets. Just viewed A View to a Kill recently (one of the few Moore's I liked). If I upgrade to Bluray, it'll be for my own personal creme de la creme. Though Skyfall will probably be a bluray purchase.

I always liked A View To A Kill too. Pretty much any of the Roger Moore Bond's you can't go wrong, IMO.
I'm really looking forward to seeing A View To A Kill and the other Roger Moore's on blu ray!

I love Roger Moore's 007. I have Goldfinger on DVD, but the only other one I have is Octopussy on a VHS I bought with the awesome theme song "All time High" by Rita Coolidge. Just takes me back. ... Can't wait to watch/hear that on blu ray. Heaven!

Roger Moore is my least favorite Bond, but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy quite a few of his Bond efforts. The Spy Who Loved Me is unquestionably my favorite of his 007 films.

I goofed above. The last I viewed was For Your Eyes Only and I liked that (probably because I was about to go travelling - which turned into 4 years on the road - and considered visiting that monastery in Greece. Anyway, I'm now entering VHS territory, so it will be the first time seeing those Bonds in widescreen until Goldeneye.

Here's my take: I have no desire to own The Man With the Golden Gun, Moonraker, Octopussy, or most of the Brosnan Bonds (I would only want GoldenEye).
Why all of the hate for Pierce?
