On July 24th, Scorpion Releasing, in conjunction with Crown International/Mill Creek, presents THE HEARSE/BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE. In THE HEARSE, Jane Hardy (Trish Van Devere -DAY OF THE DOLPHIN, THE CHANGELING), recovering from emotional problems following a difficult divorce, leaves San Francisco for a summer in the country house left to her by her late aunt. On the road, she has an eerie, near-collision with a hearse. Arriving at "the old Martin place", she discovers it's been left as it was when her aunt died 30 years before. Next up, BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE! A chilling, blood-curdling tale about a young couple that inherits an old castle, but finds it already inhabited by a crazy butler (John Carradine), as well as Dracula and his sinister henchman, Mango.

Id like to see how this compares with the OOP Rhino DVD of the Hearse. I know the co-feature for this is a poor film (of course there are those who do like it )

Mondo Digital prefers the new one, which sure was "an afternoon cable mainstay in the 80s": http://www.mondo-digital.com/hearse.html

Interested in seeing The Hearse (1980) more so than Blood of Dracula's Castle (1969) (but still a bit interested in the latter, whether or not it's a bad/poor film).

Really couldnt care less about Katrina and would rather watch the movie. I did order this with the rave review about the transfer of the Hearse being better than previous releases....

There are those who do like the Katarina sketches etc. on these Scorpion titles. Myself, I wasn't sure at first, but am enjoying them now. Had faith that Scorpion would do a quality release with The Hearse (1980), so decided to pre-order it when it was possible to do so. Didn't get the Rhino DVD release, but was certainly going to get this release.

Importcds.com currently has the best price for these pair of titles: $9.49 for The Hearse and $10.49 for Day After Halloween.
