Having a hard time finding out much about it. There's three reviews on Amazon about it, two of which challenge Samsung's 7.1 claim, but that's not a big deal to me as I was looking for 5.1 anyway with wireless rear speakers. It's also about $200 cheaper at NewEgg than anywhere else for the next week. Any thoughts?

Sneaky that they call this a "7.1" system - the extra two speakers are front "highs" which are built into the main speakers. Really, this is a 5.1 system.

Unlike many HTiB systems, this one at least has two HDMI inputs and one digital optical input, so you can add additional sources and enjoy surround sound from them.

The speakers are low impedance models (3 ohm) so bear in mind that you will NOT be able to upgrade the speakers later on down the road, nor will you be able to use these speakers with another receiver should you decide to upgrade.

Essentially, if you outgrow this system, you'll need to start over again. This is common for just about any HTiB system - it's the price you pay for the convenience of an all-in-one. At least, the 2 HDMI inputs will extend the life of this system. For a bit more, you can opt for one of the Onkyo all-in-one systems that include a real receiver and 6/8 ohm speakers. This will provide a future upgrade path, if that's important for you.

As for the wireless surround speakers - the "wireless" part is from the receiver to the back of the room - the speakers themselves still need to be "wired" to the wireless receiver unit that also needs to be plugged into a wall outlet for power. Since the recommended location for surround speakers in a 5.1 setup is technically to the sides of the listening position, only you can determine if your room geometry will work for this.

If you think about it, wiring from the front to the sides or wiring from the back middle to the sides sound a lot like "six of one, half dozen of the other"...

If your priorities have convenience and ease of use at the top, and your need for future expansion is zero, then it's not so bad, but if you really want the home theater experience (performance) and you see yourself adding more than 2 sources down the road, there may be better alternatives.

This is a better system at a better price. The receiver is a standard model, so you can upgrade pieces of your system later.
