IF your speakers are powered like the old Paradigm Studio powered series, or like my powered Edirol near field monitors (I use them with my computer with Cubase to make music recordings--they have analogue and coax/optical digital inputs) you could use the player directly (as long as the sub is powered). I know someone who has 5 of the powered Paradigm Studio 40s (sadly out of production) and a sub hooked up to a pre/pro, bypassing traditional amplification.
