Really getting a kick out of looking at these photos

and thinking to myself, "I'll never learn how to do that."

In particular I enjoyed John's photos. That church

photo is very eerie. Also liked the way Doug was able

to take day shots and warm them down to look as if

they were taken at night. Man's photos remind me

just how impacting B&W photography still is.

Thanks for sharing.

Ron,

About choosing your own focus point.

If you want to choose your own focus point, you should note the setting of the AF-area Mode parameter in Autofocus Menu (a1). This should NOT be set to "Auto Area" but to one of the three other options.

Then you can choose the focus point yourself with the Multiselector dial (the one with the arrows and the OK button) on the back of your camera. But to be able to do that, you must first (temporarily or permanently) set the little switch below that selector from L (Lock) to the black dot (Free).

Then use the arrows to move the focus point.

Hope this helps.

Thinking about some of the theft has been eating at me and since I'm not worried about creating a negative image by going after someone who stole images, I sent an email to one of them. They stole several images I had expressly denied them use of.

You might recognize this one...

I guess we'll see what the response, if any is. I half expect a threatening letter from an attorney, because that is how people like this think.

These three. You can tell two of them are the same kitchen.

A couple comments for those really looking for details. I intentionally vary the color temperature of the shots depending on what time of day they are shot. Night ones, like the first one, are warmer because that is the "feel" you expect. Ones shot in the day are cooler. Even though you really aren't seeing any windows in these shots, you can still tell they were shot during day or night and the feel of them should match. Too often interiors are made to be severely warm, regardless of the time of day, which just looks wrong to me, plus I think it is lazy photography.

I can see why they used them, they're among the most professional looking images they had to work with.

Have you tried just sending them a bill?

Maybe they'll just pay it and be done with it.

Anyway, sorry you're being ripped off.

This is an interesting post about shooting modes. I owned a Pentax 35mm for a few years and definitely liked the "hyper" modes.
