According to various e-tailers (including Amazon), a 3-disc set of Roger Ramjet is due out from Sony Music 2/8/05 (the same day as their Mr. Magoo Complete Series release). 3 discs, $39.99 MSRP. Free model airplane included, as well. Here's the cover art from DeepDiscountDVD:

They have it for $23.93 shipped, BTW.

I'm surprised TVShowsonDVD.com hasn't caught onto this yet since that's where I found out about the "companion" Mr. Magoo release.

I love TVShowsOnDVD.com as much as the next guy, but there are OTHER sites out there that report news you know.

Anyways, I don't think this is going to be a "Complete Collection". As I understand it, there are 156 6-min episodes of Roger Ramjet, and with the runtime of this set at 600 minutes, there's no way they would all fit. Still, not bad for fans of the series.

Please re-read the end of my first post and I think you'll realize that I wasn't trying to say that they're the be all, end all of DVD news. The reason I pointed them out was because they were the only site I read on a regular basis that reported on the Mr. Magoo release. Since the upcoming RR release is being done by the same studio on the same day, it was surprising to me that they didn't report on that one, too.

With all due respect to you and your site, it's not one that I read on a regular basis. Nothing against your site, I just always forget about it.

Wait, so what was the point of the question mark at the end of the topic subject then? I guess I misunderstood, because I thought you were looking for some sort of confirmation about the details of this release. My post was just to point out that there are other sites out there confirming this news. Sorry about the mixup and no problem on not visiting my site... it's a niche site and not everyone is into that niche.

I guess I sometimes get annoyed when people do think TVShowsOnDVD.com is the "be all, end all of DVD news". It's an amazing site and I respect Dave and Gord greatly... it is a daily visit after all. However, I get the impression that people don't realize they don't post news on everything out there. For example, Overhaulin' Season 1 is coming to DVD on January 11th. Or, Season 2 sets of Branded and Guns of Will Sonnett are coming out February 8th.

I'm not even sure if they will ...they might just add the titles to their database.

It wasn't so much for a confirmation of the date, but rather it being a "complete collection" which was an assumption on my part since it is a 3-disc set, and I didn't realize there were 156 shorts made - I thought it was more like 90-something. So after your first post, I'm beginning to think it's not a complete collection.

Sorry for the confusion.

I think a complete collection is coming to another region like Australia.

Could runtime be shortened by removing opening and closing credits? Ramjet had the song at the beginning and ending of each short on the last two DVDs but you could choose to play it without the opening and closing but if you choose that option you would get chastised by Ramjet for not being Patriotic enough as he questions why you wouldn't want to hear that song over and over again.

I don't know about shortening or removing the opening and closing credits... are they present on each individual 6-min short? And if so, how long are they? Each short would have to run 4-min long in order to fit all 156 of them onto a 600-min runtime set.

Except you forget there is a time difference between NTSC and PAL and if it's in PAL for Australia there would be time gained.

Shockingly yes.I just watched one from the single disc release. With out the opening and closing it ran from 6:58-10:45 for 3 minutes and 47 seconds. These were short cartoons made longer by repeated opening and closing segments. With them it ran from 6:14-11:29 for 5 minutes and 15 seconds. Another cartoon for comparison runs from 23:05-27:03 for 3 minutes and 58 seconds and 22:19-27:44 with opening and closing, 5 minutes and 26 seconds.

I should probably just stay out of the discussion, but I won't so there.

Josh's sites are good and I swing by them daily. I may not cover Guns Of Will Sonnett because of a combination of not enough time to cover everything and not enough interest (per votes at the site) to make it a priority. When I DO have time to play catch-up and do something that might otherwise be low-interest, I try to make it an offbeat and culty thing, like the recent news I did for "Starcade" and "Joy of Painting". Those news posts got an amazing amount of reads!

When I DO reluctantly pass up posting news about a smaller title, I'm secure in the knowledge that sooner or later Gord will add it as a regualar release listing at the site (hopefully; we're dreadfully behind on getting some of those in) and also secure in knowing that other sites like Josh's will make sure the title gets heard about.

If I had my druthers, I'd find time in the day to post about 100% of the stuff that I find out about. On the other hand, I do have a full-time 50+ hour a week job that has nothing to do with DVDs or websites.

As for Roger Ramjet, I haven't missed it. I''ve held off posting until Sony Music could supply me with the very cover art you seem to have found! So I'm a bit miffed right now, as you can imagine. :)

David,

I fully, and I do mean fully, understand the issues of time constraints and full time jobs! That's why I don't expect to see every single release of individual shows get mentioned in the "news" section of your site. Most do, but once in a while a lesser known title is bound to be put on the backburner or get overlooked.

As it turns out, I happened to stumble on the release date of "BRANDED" Season 2 and a 3rd set of "THE RIFLEMAN" a week or so ago. I did email both pieces of info to you guys, but figured you just hadn't had time to post. No biggie.

Gary "I am personally going to invest in both releases, even though 'BRANDED' will probably be another 22 minute per episode set - still better than nothing" O.

According to various e-tailers this set contains 120 of the 156 episodes of the series. I would like to see a list of the included episodes before I order to see how much overlap there is with the existig 2 releases.
