FYI, for my order placed at 10:14 this morning I'm getting an estimated ship date of 3/23. A three week delay leads me to believe that these babies are going to be in fairly short supply for the near future.

Edit: After checking with their online order status thing, the estimated delivery date is now 3/28 - 3/30. Hope nobody wanted one real soon...

Does anyone have any experience with motherboards using the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 chipset. From my brief search it seems to be the best available approach for me to feed the Dell and also feed the two 19" LCD panels that will flank it. I would need one high capability PCIe card with two DVI outputs for the Dell and one of the other LCDs and I could drive the third monitor using the DVI output from the motherboard. These are Athlon only chipsets currently, but there will be a forthcoming Pentium4 version.

Or is there another solution that I'm not aware of?

New Status = In transit!

I never thought I'd be so happy that Dell blatantly lies in their delivery date estimates. :D

I don't regret missing out on the coupon. Not at all. No sir. Uh-uh. Well.... maybe a little.

I was going to say to check out the Deals Page because this monitor is 10% off with a stackable $75 off coupon dropping the price down to $1004.10.

BTW, my birthday is on the 8th of this month. So if anyone wants to ship me one you can send me an email or PM and I will give you my snail mail address.

This is an awfully good deal on a really hot monitor.

I have the 20" Dell Monitor.

This new 24" is still too rich for my blood
knowing that within 6 months to a year the
price will either drop a few hundred or there
will be a terrific coupon deal.

It's just too soon for me to jump on this only
to see a price drop down the road.

This monitor is only 2 days old. I want to
give it a chance to come down in price.

Gabriel,

Please send Parker and I an email
as soon as you see such an offer.

We'll make sure the rest of the
membership gets in on a deal, too.

I'm wondering if there is any way
we can convince Dell to do a HTF
power buy on this monitor.

Gabriel, do you have the means of
negotiating a power buy with Dell?
If not, perhaps I can call them this
week and see if they are interested
in giving this forum such a deal.

I just bought the 20 inch 2005FPW yesterday with 35% off coupon. It came out to $486 plus tax and free shipping. Total $516. It can't wait for it to get here. The 24 inch was also "too rich for my blood." I briefly toyed with the idea of getting the W1900 LCD HD ready TV, but it would have cost more.

Ron what did you end up paying for it? I'm still enjoying my 2005FPW, although I would'nt mind getting the 24" somewhere down the road and use it in the Living room. I wonder if we'll ever get a 30" from Dell.

Dave,

I have a friend who works for a
business that buys exclusively
through Dell. I got the monitor
for $849 which is a dealer rate.

Now...

I do know that in the Fatwallet.com
forums there was recently a power buy
through a Dell Rep that was ordering these
monitors at the $849 pricepoint.

I bought one of these new Dell 24" monitors last week. I paid an incredibly low $665 using an employee discount ($1199 base, $100 off sale, stackable 33% off coupon, 12% employee discount, 2% discount for applying for Dell credit, add 5% tax, free shipping). UPS tried to deliver it last night, so I should get it today. I have been using a Samsung SyncMaster 240T at work for over a year, so I know what a quality 24" LCD looks like. I'll post a review of the Dell after I've had it for a few days.

I only wish I could buy one... I just built a new AMD 3000+ system for less than those monitors. :b

I wanted to take a picture of my
Dell 24" and post it here, but I
have been so busy. Perhaps next week.

I love this monitor. It's massive.
In fact, the screen is so large that
you find yourself immersed in whatever
is being displayed before you.

My only complaints would be that the
display loses a bit of sharpness and
colors seem to be slightly washed out.
I easily attribute this to any image
that is being displayed at a resolution
larger than it was intended for. I am
certain that if I went into the screen
settings I could sharpen and darken the
display a little further.

In all, this was a necessary purchase.
Being my third Dell flat panel, I find
myself again extremely satisfied of the
quality this company consistently puts
into their displays.

This truly is a quality monitor.

Yea I just realized that it does.. I wasn't clear if you could use the HD pack straight through component and get HD resolution with Xbox or if you had to go through VGA. I think now I've read component is fine.

I'm curious to hear any experiences though. If you can play HD Xbox on it, I'm pretty much sold.
