Another I think that deserves it. But only those of us that remember it in theatres actually get how good it is...
Last of The Mohicans
Lots of people bemoan it. Watch it in a theatre some time from actual film stock.

Cleopatra (1963)
Ah!!! I just knew someone would put this title forward (I let the too dark Last Of The Mohicans go, but I have to say something about this). A needlessly overprocessed pictute, colours mucked about with, too cold, yellows done away with (if you wan't to see what gold looks like, look at The Egyptian..GOLD, not silver like in Cleopatra). This just about looks OK if I turn the colour right up on my telly (well a few scenes overbaked). In fact this would come under my most disappointing release of the year.
I should put a title or two forward. How The West Was Won, esp the Smilebox version, & It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World

Keep the recommendations coming.
Endorse recommendations that have already been made or dispute them, but keep them coming.
Question: doesn't DNR do some injury to the 70th Anniversary edition of CASABLANCA?
Aren't WIZARD OF OZ, THE MUSIC MAN, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD afflicted with too much yellow? A chronic problem at Warner Home Video.

One we've all missed...Jaws! As they graded it again from scratch I hoped they wouldn't muck it up, but looking at it, I think they did a bang up job. A reference Blu-ray.
...& just thought of another one, Inglourious Basterds. Whatever you think of Tarantino films, they always look good, & I think the Blu of this looks stunning, as I'm sure Django Unchained will.

I have to strongly disagree with 2001: A Space Odyssey being on a list of reference quality BDs. This is an older scan with excessive edge enhancement and filtering; it really needs a new scan.

DNR on the 70th Anniversary of Casablanca? Not that I am aware of. The original blu-ray is the one that was over-processed.

I'll have to re-watch my copy of 2001 as I thought it was a reference disc. But I haven't cracked it open in a while either.
It was one of the first BD I bought. That coincided with when our company's employees were given an LG BD390 which coincided with Toshiba shanking the industry by losing the format war...(yeah, yeah, veiled attempt at the slight of BD...haha...)
