Been researching and still can't make up my mind. I am starting new system and I want multi room audio setup. I found 3 receivers but not sure which one is the best for what I am looking for. I am looking to do 3-4 zones with independent audio in each. So i can watch movie in main and wife can hear iphone playlist in bedroom.. I need airplay to stream from iphones and ipad etc.

Here is the receivers i found:

Denon avr-x4000
Denon dra-697 CIHD
Denon avr 3313CI

With these receivers what do I need to make this posible? why would you need more amps with the 697 ? sorry for noob question pretty new here.

for speakers i am running Definitive Technology bp8060st

I said if you want 5.1 the 697 is out.

Since you haven't said anything, YET, about 5.1...

We can assume all you want is stereo in all three zones. The X4000 and 3313 are capable of that with no additional help.

Ergo...

speaker wire and speakers.

The 697 needs an additional amp for each zone. And it only does 2.0...no matter what.

Zone 2. You need an additional amp.

Going to do a zone 3? You need an additional amp.

But, again...

The 697 does not, can not, never will do, is not designed to do 5.1 and because it does not, cannot, won't, wasn't designed to...is useless in your situation.

The 3313 and X4000 are 7 channel AVR. So...without help...you can do...

1. 3 stereo zones.
2. 5.1 with a powered zone 2.
3. 7.1

With an additional amp(which every single source you can find anywhere on the internet...including by downloading the owners manual)

1. 5.1 with a powered zone 2 and zone 3.
2. 7.1 with zone 2 or 3 (not both zone 2 and 3...one at a time)

With two additional amps(which every single source you can find anywhere on the internet...including by downloading the owners manual)

1. 7.1 with zones 2 and 3
2. 9.1 with zone 2 or 3.

With three additional amps(which every single source you can find anywhere on the internet...including by downloading the owners manual)

1. 9.1 with zone 2 and zone 3.
