Are there any developments on future releases of series that I am collecting, namely The Streets Of San Francisco,Rawhide and the last season of the Fugitive?
Encore also airs the occasional syndicated version. Recently they showed the Have Gun - Will Travel episode "Odds for Big Red," and it ran for only 22 minutes. I pulled out my Columbia House VHS tape and immediately saw that the Encore version was missing about 3 1/2 minutes of footage. Encore Westerns also skipped the first episode of Season Five of HGWT, an episode called "The Vigil."Originally Posted by Neil Brock
I agree. Once they start on Encore, I'll pick them up myself from there. Too bad they began leaving their network bug on the screen throughout the whole show. Up until a year ago, they would stick it on for about :15 every so often and that was it. Oh well, nothing we can do about it. It's a shame that none of the other Encore networks run any series anymore. I know in the 90s, Encore Mystery ran a bunch of shows, like Name of the Game, Mike Hammer, Alfred Hitchcock Hour, etc.
LOL, Todd. No, I don't have any sources concerning Australian releases. Any tidbits I get only concern R1 releases when it comes to CBS/P. If the trade off in shipping costs and the conversion rate weren't so bad on the US side I'd bite. But knowing that the show is coming to Encore will likely keep me away from buying this "Down Under" release.Originally Posted by ToddR2
Good news, Rawhide fans: season 4 is coming out 9/29/10 in Australia. Gary, I know that you'll be happy to hear this (unless your friend at CBS , uh, "crystal ball", I mean, has given you reason to believe that it's forthcoming domestically).
That's a good question about the masters I guess it would be good to wait and see how the reviews come in to determine what they were able to use. Would CBS even let them use new HD transfers to work from? My guess would be not, but hey what do I know. If not then they would probably be similar to what Encore shows without the station bug.Originally Posted by Guy Foulard

I looked it up on DevotedDVD, whom I've ordered from in the past, with good results. From them, it's $52 USD , with tracking and protective sleeves for the discs. It's from Madman Entertainment, who've done nice work with Ironside and other Universal releases (they're working on a release of It Takes a Thief, too). This sounds very promising! Did CBS do HD masters of this season?
Also, I wouldn't count on this a foretelling of a US release--Madman has picked up other dropped releases before (like McMillan and Wife).
Hopefully they will include the missing season 4 episode on this release.Originally Posted by Guy Foulard

I got Season 4, and the picture quality is not as good as Seasons 2 & 3 from CBS, but good enough by my standards--closer to the appearance of most Universal shows I've seen on DVD. Based upon what I've watched, I'd spring for season 5.

I don't know about Gary's crystal ball, but in mine I see season 4 coming out around the middle of 2011!Originally Posted by ToddR2

Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Rawhide Season 4 come out in the summer of next year. But that's not my crystal ball talking, just me.Neil Brock said:I don't know about Gary's crystal ball, but in mine I see season 4 coming out around the middle of 2011!
The Gianakos books did contain many errors. There weren't many series in which he didn't miss at least one episode entirely, sometimes even more, like with Bob Hope Chyrsler Theatre. But for their time, pre-internet, they were a godsend and certainly far and away the best reference source we had for episode guides and titles. As with The Fugitive summary, his glaring lack of knowledge about the shows themselves was quite obvious. While its a completely different kind of book, I still find Harry and Wally's Favorite TV Shows to be the best source for informed opinions on TV series. Although even they aren't perfect, giving a classic series like East Side West Side only 2 1/2 stars.Originally Posted by silverking
I agree about the Gianakos books, generally useful but a lot of errors which could have been corrected with a little more diligent research. The most infamous being his summary of 'The Fugitive'.
