I am going to ask a very stupid question

that I already believe I know the answer

but since I am about to make a purchase

for a specific purpose I want to make certain.

    I need a 4-port powered USB hub.

Not using it in conjunction with a computer.

I am using it as a base in my Home Theater

room to charge my 3D glasses.

So the question is, can I use a powered
USB hub standalone with power supply to

do this without the need of a PC?

I should simply be able to plug in the glasses

and they will charge without having to put a

    PC into the mix.....yes?

    Thanks in advance!

If it's a powered hub, yes, no PC is requried. If it's compliant it should supply wake-on-USB power, which is enough to charge almost all USB devices without a PC connected. (DO NOT PLUG AN IPAD INTO A HUB!!!!!!) Sorry, significant warning, but there are a lot of powered hubs that will cause VERY bad things to happen to your iPad.

I have a powered hub that I charge 6 different devices on without it being hooked up to my iMac. Amazon has some good choices. The Belkin that Christopher listed above is a nice unit.

Thank you for the responses gents. I have had a Belkin powered hub for my Mac for the past few years. It has been a little faulty now and then. Since I only need it to charge my 3D glasses I went with something half the price and well rated on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038YGQTO/ref=oss_product Hopefully it will do the job.

Looks good to me. I am sure it will do what you are wanting it to do.
