Who here owns several seasons of Psych on DVD? Are they worth obtaining, and are the special features interesting? I haven't taken the plunge with this series yet. It's one of the few 'modern' (post 1990s ;)) shows I might consider springing for on DVD.

Friendly Reminder

This Friday, Psych comes back for it's 4th season on the USA Network.

It comes on after the premier of Monk.

I am looking forward to Friday. :)

Is "Psych" normally shot in Vancouver? It seems like it'd be pretty expensive to move the entire production to Canada for an episode, but if they shoot the show there anyway, I guess it'd just be an opportunity to utilize different locations. The Canadian characters didn't do much for me, and Shawn's mega-romantic weekend seemed more than a little contrived. That being said, the banter from Shawn and those around him was as good as ever and the production values have if anything gotten even more polished and sophisticated. Once we're back in Santa Barbara next week (and when I hopefully won't have a pounding headache) I'll get a better feel for the season.

Loved the latest iteration of the credits sequence. The editing does a much better job of hitting the beats provided by the music, and the last shot is even more hilarious than the running through the field shot from last season. I hope they have an extended version for the episodes than run short like they did last year.

Adam, it is shot in White Rock, BC with extra work in Vancouver and elsewhere nearby in BC. Last night's ep was really good. I liked the interplay between Shawn and Juliet about "being friends." I miss the Law and Order walk at the end of a few shows from last season, but damn is the song good for the show/credits! It's offered as a free mp3 on The Friendly Indians website if anyone didn't know.

I just got Universal HD and have watched a couple reruns of Psych on it. Is it just me, or are the episodes on it extended versions or something? I'd swear that there's a few little things I haven't seen before that were shown.

Now that we're back to usual territory, you can really tell they've upgraded the visual style for the show, beginning with the slick, quick panning establishing shots from the skies about Santa Barbara. Getting a helicopter view of the police station after years of the same static establishing shot with the sign was a surprise.

Loved this episode. Loved it, loved it, loved it. The slapstick was dead on, the banter was hilarious, and the final beat in his father's den was touching. And Rachel Leigh Cook is the greatest guest star in the history of "Psych" every time she pops up, she brings a different, wonderful energy to the show. She only had three short scenes but her reaction shots made every one memorable. I hope they let the arc really play out before she leaves the show.

The spaghetti western showdown at the end of the ep was very well done, and struck me as quite funny with Shawn and Gus thrown in as well.

The decision to cast Ray Wise, the devil in "Reaper," as a Catholic exorcism specialist is positively delicious.

Clearly there are some serious horror fans in the writers' room.

I was so close to guessing who the culprit was in this one. I didn't suspect Wise (even after he was put behind bars); the primary reason for this is because Shawn and Gus both knew him for many years, dating back to their childhoods. Somehow, I couldn't buy that it was him.

I didn't guess Agatha -- but I did suspect Mary. I figured that she was in love with Cameron, and that the girl who died in the beginning of the episode was moving into territory where she was not welcomed. When Shawn, Gus, et al. knocked at Cameron's door, I fully expected the door to open and for Mary to be there, not Agatha.

I was pleased that the episode of Psych I missed a couple of weeks ago aired at 11 p.m. last night. I taped it, and am really looking forward to it. (This is the one with the old West sets.)

There were quite a few laugh-out-loud moments in tonight's episode. I'm not sure which one takes the cake for me: the seemingly unarmed Lassiter shooting the piss out of the cop bar, or Shawn's imagined eliptical bike Speed scenario.
