I'm not Luc Besson. But by judging from the first film there should be alot of backstory to Léon's character. How he came to America, etc.

I think a sequel would be better, Mathilda (Portman) is just about the right age now to take over from Leon.

That could make a great movie, a la "Nikita".

Here's how I would imagine it in script form (I need the practice).

    =======================================

    FADE IN

INT: LAW FIRM RECEPTION DESK - DAY

MATHILDA is sitting at a reception desk wearing a telephone headset. The phone RINGS. She ANSWERS it promptly by pressing a button on the phone.

    MATHILDA
Allison, McCortley, Lewison and Burks. May I help you?

    NARRATOR
She's a receptionist by day, and a professional assassin by night.

    EXT: DARK ALLEYWAY - NIGHT

Mathilda, holding a gun, SHOOTS towards the shadow figure of a MAN. We see the shadow of the man COLLAPSE to the ground.

    INT: BUILDING'S CRAWLSPACE

Mathilda is MOVING stealthily through the crawlspace, carrying a compact sniper's rifle attached to her back.

    NARRATOR
She is a master at infiltrating enemy territory and taking care of business.

    INT: MANAGER'S OFFICE

SEEN THROUGH THE SCOPE OF A GUN

The crosshairs of the rifle's scope are AIMED directly at a MAN's forehead.

    INT: RESTAURANT

TONY and Mathilda are sitting at a table. Tony shows her a photograph.

    NARRATOR
But now, she must take on a job that challenges even her advanced abilities...

    TONY
His name is Albert. He's a very special case.

    MATHILDA
    How so?

    TONY
He's an assassin. Just like you.

    EXT: CITY PARK - NIGHT

    UP A TREE

We see ALBERT aiming towards an unspecified target.

    TONY
    (voice-over)
Only this assassin has become unreliable.

Albert SHOOTS. We hear a loud BANG.

    EXT: CITY STREET - DAY

Albert is WALKING down the street showing no emotion whatsoever, LOOKING at the people around him as if they were targets themselves.

    TONY
    (voice-over)
Two days ago, he shot the man who hired him for a job. No one knows why.

    MATHILDA
    (voice-over)
    Do you want an explanation?

    TONY
    (voice-over)
No, I just want him dead.

    INT: APPARTMENT - NIGHT

Mathilda is HIDING around a corner, handgun drawn and ready.

    NARRATOR
Now Mathilda must take down a man as skilled as she is.

    EXT: CITY STREET - DAY

Albert is LOOKING across the street and spots Mathilda.

    NARRATOR
A man hunting her down as well.

    =======================================

At this point, there'd be plenty of cut scenes of Mathilda asking questions, Albert firing towards Mathilda, Mathilda taking cover, Albert threatening Tony and asking "Where is she?" But I'd rather write the entire script at this point in time.

Hmmm... That could be an interesting exercise!

I think it would be EXCELLENT if it cut between showing Matilda taking up from Leon and flashbacks showing Leon becoming an assassin (a la Godfather II).

I just hope they can or will incorporate Jean Reno into the film. He's one of my favorite actors.

I mean who doesn't love this film?? Please let us know who you are so we can hunt you down.
I don't. But I should give it a second chance I like both Jean Reno and Natalie Portman. The first time I saw it was a crappy VSH copy on some girls dorm room TV. Aside from the horrible P&S editing of the movie I was mostly concentrating on the girl I was with. I did find there on screen relationship kind of creepy in a pedophile way, but Taxi Driver gave me the same vibe and I thoroughly enjoyed that film. Time will tell I guess.
