Decided to give the subwoofer EQ a try. Got the Stryke test CD and used the Radio Shack analog SPL meter. Equipment is Denon 3200 receiver (x-over is 80Hz), dual SVS 20-39's (loaded in same front corner of room) with Samson 700 amp, and Klipsch Chorus mains. Here's what I got (receiver in stereo mode):

FREQRAW SPLSPL (comp)

166879.5

188391.0

207279.5

228288.5

258994.0

289397.0

31.59497.0

3699101.5

409496.5

458991.0

508990.5

569091.5

638889.5

718081.5

807677.5

897071.5

1007476.0

1118081.0

1258282.5

142.58080.5

1607877.5

I was surprised at the large drop below 25Hz, must be my room/listening position. I picked up the BFD and I'm looking for some ideas on possible filter options. Looks like cleaning up the peak at 36 is necessary, but should I try to use multiple filters to bring down the level between 22 and 63 to smooth the drop at 20? Also, should I try a little boost at 89 to smooth the crossover?

I'm new at this EQ stuff, so any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the EQ stuff either, but here's what I suggest:
1. Don't use any filters. Just use a direct connection from your receiver to your sub;
2. Forget about the BFD because it's a complicated piece of hardware anyway;
3. Disconnect your SVSes from your system;
4. Call me and I'll pick them up at your house this weekend and take them off your hands.
That should take care of the drop at 25Hz and any other peaks and drops that may need adjusting.
See ya at work next week. :laugh:

Tom,
Go here and read through Sonnie's site. Get the Excel worksheet from his link and plug your data into the table. It'll be a lot easier to see than just raw numbers. For more fun than you asked for, go get the ETF5 software too so you can speed up the data collection process. ;)
Your cow-orker appears to have an ulterior motive in mind. :D
