Ya Steve, I think you're getting your model numbers confused. There's no such thing as a 2014K. The 1012K and 2012K are exactly the same as you can see from the picture and specs provided above and are both the same as the 45TX. The 1014TX is a new unit built on the same chasis as the 52TX but not on the same chasis as the other similar elite models (43TX, 45TX, 53TX, 55TXi, 54TX, 56TXi) and pioneer models (1012K and 2012K).

Interestingly the 1014TX and the 52TX seem to be built on a similar chassis to the Elites of old, namely the VSX-33TX and 35TX.

They seem to have a size and button layout a bit more like the older Elites but still different enough to signal that they share little if any internals. The button/knob layout is pretty much reversed and the concavity of the front face is different. The displays do seem to be similar as well but different enough to signal that there's very little shared. The older elites were proportioned (height mainly) more like a standard Pioneer unit (810S for example). While the 1014TX and 52TX are not as tall as the 43/45/53/55/54/56 they are taller than the older Elites and standard Pioneers.

Well, I looked at Yung's pictures, and it was pretty obvious to me that the 45TX is much, much larger than the other units... ;)

And maybe we can just leave tuan knowing that he got a decent deal on very good receiver. Once upon a time, barely 18 months ago, that 45TX was right up on the top of a whole lotta wish lists. Now tuan's got one and he paid a whole lot less than lots of others did not all that long ago.

Stephen - Here is the dimensions of the 33TX, 52TX and 1014TX, from the respective owner's manuals:

33TX: 16-9/16(W)x6-13/16(H)x18-1/4(D); 32 lbs 3 oz.
52TX: 16-9/16(W)x6-13/16(H)x18-5/16(D); 34.2 lbs
1014TX: 16-9/16(W)x6-13/16(H)x18-5/16(D); 34.0 lbs

And for good measure (no pun intended), here are the dimensions for the 41, 811S and 810S, respectively.

41: 16-9/16(W)x6-4/16(H)x15-6/16(D); 23.1 lbs
811S: 16-9/16(W)x6-4/16(H)x15-6/16(D); 23.2 lbs
810S: 16-9/16(W)x6-4/16(H)x15-13/16(D); 23.3 lbs

Tim - That's a funny one. I agree with the rest of your comments.

Tuan - Enjoy the Elite 45TX, its still an awesome receiver.

Stephen, i have the 33TX and i've seen the 52TX, beside of the different design of the 52TX it looks a lot like my 33TX even the front display but without the red dolby and dts indicators anyone who's been with me and seen the 33TX and see the 52TX they say that looks like my receiver well they look alike so umm i considering of getting the 52TX or wait for next year and get the i-link version of the 52TX cause every where else (Japan, Europe) the 52TX or their model equivalents VSX-2014i-S has i-link so if they release an i-link version for next years model i would wait go and buy it.

UliseZ,

Yes, why oh why couldn't they release the 2014i here in the States.

http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/produ...onomy_id=62-98

But, I highly doubt it would be in the regular Pioneer line if they do so. It will be probably more of a 52TXi and remain in the Elite line...even so, I don't see this anytime soon...maybe 2 years. But you know what will happen, once you shell out the money for the 52TX, then it will be released here.

that's why i want to wait because i don't want to shell out any money right now because i'm going to regret it later. i do want to harness the i-link connection, so i'll wait; plus i'm getting the feeling that if they release it they'll add the other motorola chip and the the advanced mcacc and the bigger caps and of course the i-link, but use the 52TX chassi than the 54TX. they did this in japan but didn't use the features that i wrote but just the i-link. but they use the 56TXi and 52TX as their selling models for this year, no inbetween model like the 54TX. So i hope they do that here next year but with the features that i wrote above.

UliseZ,
I believe these are the European equivalents of the North American Pioneer Elite A/V receivers

North American / European
VSX-59TXi / VSA-AX10Ai-S
VSX-56TXi / VSX-AX5Ai-S
VSX-54TX / -----
----- / VSX-2014i-S
VSX-52TX / -----

where the 2014i-S is the same as the 52TX with i-Link as can be verified by the pictures of the back panel.

VSX-1014TX-K / VSX-1014-S/K

This is a topic for an entirely different thread though.

It's strange but I went back to my local Best Buy and do not see the Air Link logo anywhere on the 1012K but it is defintely there on my 2012K.
The 2012K as I know is defintely the 45TX and I cannot frankly make out if the 1012K is or not.
Hopkins definitely knows this Pioneer stuff so I would think the 1012K minus the Air Link logo is also a 45TX.

I didn't know the 1012k was available in Best Buy stores - I thought it was an online-only item.

I'm pretty sure the 1012K is an on-line only item. NickSp must have seen the 1014TX because that and the lower pioneers are the only ones BB carries in the store. The 1014TX does not carry the Air Studios certification. If you look at the BB website for the 1012K, you definitely see the Air Studios logo. Well, its actually on the photo I posted a few posts back, on the lower left hand side.
