Simple question that I can't seem to get an answer on. Are the DVD-ROM drives in PC's progressive dvd players?

Surly it matters by model, but I can't find any info either way. (I assume they are given a PC's resolution capability, but I don't know for sure.)

The reason I ask is because I am planning on using a PC as a DVD-player in my HT setup and plan to use the DVI output on my video card. However, if the picture is not going to be at 480P I would just buy a seperate DVD player.

    Thanks for any help.

Hi Jeffrey - PC DVD drives don't output video, so its not a question of whether the drives are capable of progressive scan or not. The decoding is done by the software on your PC, often with the help of your video card, and most DVD player sotware will do deinterlacing. All PC monitors are progressive scan.
