They're only yet releasing Generations on 9/6 and The Undiscovered Country was only released in January. Did you really expect them to do a third SE re-release this year? They've only been doing 2 per year since the SE re-releases began.
Too, too, too many here I know I'll be picking up, but wow.....that is WONDERFUL news, finally one of the best stand-up performances put on film comes to DVD. Whew, now I can unclench.
I guess I should be thankful for all the overtime I'm getting at work. Since these will carry a cheap retail price I'll go for these:
Heartburn Happy Days - Season One The Country Girl Broadway Bill (Capra - 1934) Riding High (Capra - 1950) The Rose Tattoo Come Back, Little Sheba Eddie Murphy Raw Orca: The Killer Whale I Married a Monster from Outer Space Bug Body Parts Friday the 13th - 5 Disc Set The Untouchables CE The Stooge The Delicate Delinquent The Ladies' Man The Patsy Cinderfella The Bellboy The Errand Boy The Family Jewels The Nutty Professor CE The Disorderly Orderly Deep Impact CE Fire in the Sky Last Train from Gun Hill Arrowhead The Naked Jungle Ragtime Foul Play Top Gun CE Racing with the Moon It's All True (Welles)
Hopefully those Lewis films will be available in a box set.
I think that this is a wonderful list, but I also believe that there are Q4 releases of catalog titles still to be announced. It's just so empty for many weeks near the end of the year.
Re: "... this is the final catalogue title I've been waiting for"
How I envy you Allan! I've got literally hundreds and hundreds of catalogue titles still on my wish list. The announced Paramount release schedule make but a few dents. Still, I'm grateful Mr. Blythe.
Three pages and no one's remarked yet about Top Gun: CE? Mine! (Then again, there's at least one separate thread on this -- but I don't think it shows any posts today?)
Also glad to see Raw, Untouchables and ST:G.
No answer from anyone on the ST:TOS boxsets, which aren't listed. Anyone know? Or is this list just to announce previously unannounced/unconfirmed releases?
I'm not sure what I was thinking. I completely forgot that. I guess it's because the Universal owned Marx Bros. films are always referred to as the "Paramount" movies. Brain fart I guess. I saw the subject of this thread and automatically thought "Marx Bros"! As you can tell I really would like to own the entire collection.
Thanks, Paramount, especially, for announcing the release of Ragtime. Ragtime was nominated, in 1982, for 8 Academy Awards -- Howard Rollins, Jr., Elizabeth McGovern, cinematography, score, song, screenplay, art/set direction & costumes.
And then there's.....Milos Forman, Randy Newman, Jimmy Cagney, Donald O'Connor, Moses Gunn, Pat O'Brien, Debbie Allen, Mandy Patinkin, Brad Dourif, Jeff Daniels, Fran Drescher, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Jeter, John Ratzenberger, Robert Joy. A Dino DeLaurentis production.
I'm most excited about "Ragtime", too. Just sold my widescreen laserdisc on eBay in anticipation for the DVD release; thanks, Paramount, for making it official...and for making me feel better for parting with the LD.
The Jerry Lewis Productions (some with Dean Martin) The Stooge The Delicate Delinquent The Ladies' Man The Patsy Cinderfella The Bellboy The Errand Boy The Family Jewels The Nutty Professor CE The Disorderly Orderly Andy Griffith Show - Season 1
Hopefully, all will include commentaries and special features such as deleted scenes, outtakes, trailers, promotional materials, etc. What worries me is that only THE NUTTY PROFESSOR is listed as a Collector's Edition. Now, if Paramount could only schedule more DVD releases of Dino & Jer, especially LIVING IT UP, ARTISTS & MODELS, and SAILOR BEWARE -- and throw in JL's ROCK-A-BYE BABY and WHO'S MINDING THE STORE? for good measure. Regardless, it's going to be one HUGE PARTY & CELEBRATION come October the 12th!!!!
