These I'm not quite so sure about:

Editing: Babel
Score: Queen
Song: "Listen..."
Sound mixing: D-girls
Sound editing: Letters

I strongly feel the supporting roles should both be going to other actors. In my book, Rinko deserves to walk away with it. Thelma also deserves to walk away with editing, but Mirrione is no slouch, and Thelma won in '04. Lubeczki (sp) deserves the hell out of his award, as does Monohan. Babel may walk away empty-handed, or with only one award. LMS may end with nothing but screenplay, and Dreamgirls with only 2, after all is said and done. One thing we know, there won't be a sweep this year.

This is Marty's day. I feel it. I really feel it. I say director without question AND picture, if only by a nose. Yeah.

Not that it's terribly important, but I have a strange feeling that Pan's Labyrinth will win the most total Oscars (5).

Talk about impossible to call for Best Picture...

I'm leaning towards Little Miss Sunshine since it does have the advantage.

Ok here are my guesses.

Best Motion Picture of the Year: Babel
I would prefer Little Mrs. Sunshine but Babel is the type of movie the Academy likes to pick.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Forest Whitaker
I think Gosling’s performance is far more deserving of the award but Whitaker will get the nod. It’s not that Whitaker’s performance is not good it’s just that the role is fairly easy one when compared to Gosling’s. Whitaker’s over the top performance is reminiscent of Washington’s from Training Day.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role: Helen Mirren.
She is the one I would have voted for also.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Eddie Murphy.
The Academy just loves comic actors when they play a dramatic role.
I would vote for Alan Arkin who gave a wonderful performance.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Jennifer Hudson
I would have voted for Adrian Barraza.

Best Achievement in Directing: Martin Scorsese.
You might as well just call this a lifetime achievement award although I would not be surprised if Eastwood wins his third Directorial award.

Well bitterness comes from decades of "WHAT? BRAVEHEART SUCKED!" followed by "WHAT? TITANTIC SUCKED!" followed by "WHAT? CHICAGO SUCKED!"

It gets old, I get frustrated and out comes the pre-emptive strike of sarcasm, what can I say. I do think there were some valid points in there, but they are the same ones that any person who doesn't hate the Oscars eventually has to make every single year.

I haven't been to the discussion thread but I can already imagine.



In regards to this thread, did anyone guess that Pan wouldn't win Foreign?
