Saw this last night. It was really funny and if you like Kevin Smith's movies then you will definitely like this one too. I'm told there's a scene after the credits, but I was in the bathroom so didn't see it.

I just saw this and loved it. In terms of dialogue, the story and the look, this is 100% a Kevin Smith movie (and Rogen can't- and doesn't try to- turn it into a Judd Apatow movie). The cast is very funny and Craig Robinson steals every scene he's in. It's also probably the most profane movie that I've ever seen. Even with all the profanty, I was wondering why the movie narrowly avoided a NC-17 for about 2/3 of the movie but you'll figure out what the 'nearly NC-17' scene is when it happens.

Comparing it to Smith's other movies, I think this one ranks near the top with Clerks II and Chasing Amy (my fave of his).

Yeah, there's a P.S. during the credits.

EDIT: The obligatory Star Wars reference is hilarious too. Especially the dianoga (garbage monster) being played by a dildo on a stick.

I liked it too. Probably Smith's most consistent movie, but not my favorite. Like "Jersey Girl" it doesn't stand out from the pack in the way his Viewaskewniverse films do. I also don't think Miri was developed enough to sell some of the rather unlikable decisions she makes towards the end.

Jason Mewes still steals every scene he's in, and Brandon Routh and Tyler Labine have some of the best cameos I've ever seen.

I have to say, I thought it was just terrible. I like Kevin Smith (minus Jersey Girl) but this is by far the worst, most cliched movie he has ever made. The characters just don't do believable things, and I'm not talking about their movie. Zack and Miri have been friends for more than 20 years and he feels he has to run away rather than tell her he didn't sleep with that other woman, which is what she was concered with?

Not to mention the awful exposition at the end by the supporting characters, all telling Zack what the audience figured out long before.

It also wasn't very funny. Nonstop vulgarity is not a substitute for comedy. I'd say Smith needs to grow up, but he already proved he can make a more mature film than this.

While the dialogue was funny, classic Kevin Smith fare, the main misstep is that the script doesn't do a good job developing Zack and Miri to truly explore the romantic minefield that awaits them once they come up with the idea to make a porno after financial troubles become substantial enough to affect their everyday lives (cutting off electricity and water are the initial responses by the unpaid utility companies). The last act is the weak spot of the film, but overall, it's good enough to pass the time with some laughs (if you've seen Kevin Smith's other films, you pretty much know what to expect) from the situations at hand. There is one truly big laugh that had me slapping my knee, and you'll know it when you see it.

The cast is uniformily game for anything that Kevin Smith can throw in their direction. Rogen and Banks are solid in terms of their comedic delivery, and the emotional undercurrents in the script (but I still blame Smith for the clumsy final act). Jason Mewes looks weird without his long mane of blonde hair, but he more than makes up for it with a gratuitous amount of unclothedness.

I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.

Saw it tonight. Thought it was amusing. Rogen and Banks were good and the chemisty between them was very believeable.

I'll spoilerize the rest because there are some personal elements

There were a couple of scenes where my wife cried and said to me "it reminds me of how much I love you" and it was especially poignant because we had a fight a couple of days prior. And then we had somewhat of a tender, loving make out session in the theater.

I did think that Smith hit all the right beats of the "best friend who you are really in love with" thing. However, the thrid act reminded me a bit of "Chasing Amy"

I saw this over the weekend and thought it was hilarious. Tracy Lords looked kind of old though as I guess she should by now. There was only one over the top scene that will make you go eeewww...

I liked it a lot. The picture they showed of Seth Rogen's character in High School looks exactly like my roommate - haha. I couldn't stop laughing.

Finally got to see it this weekend and I was let down. It just wasn't that funny to me. I'm a fan of Smith's and really wanted to like it.
