A lot of the reviews are saying that not all questions are answered. One even says that the fan-boy speculation on sites like this are better than what actually happens.

But the real kicker: Victoria Alexander compares one scene in Revolutions to

    Star Trek V.

    Ouch.

I am still hoping for the best. RELOADED does get slightly better on repeat viewings.

Man I'm just gonna have to quit reading this thread altogether until I see the movie. Every post and a half is nothing but spoiler boxes :/

But I guess that's better than not using them [IMG]

Chris, that comparison has a good point!

During a 20 minutes span there are direct rip offs from Alien, Star Wars, and Star Trek

Just go into the movie with low expectations. That's ALWAYS the best policy, IMHO. I went in to Reloaded with HUGE expectations and was let down. But, with each viewing , I like Reloaded a little more. I went into Revo. with relatively no expectations and I came away entertained and happy.

I think one of the only movies I've gone into with high expectations and come out satisfied is Two Towers.

Thanks, Jeff! [IMG] It sucks not to find out more about the Merovingian, but perhaps the next game will shed some light on it. This saga needs the equivalent of the Silmarillion to fill in the gaps, I guess. btw, Deus Ex Machina is the "machine god" Neo speaks with in the trailer

I was able to see the film last night, as part of a local radio station promotion.

I think Reloaded was the better film (and I didnt really care for Reloaded).

    - Very little time is spent in the Matrix. There are only a few cool kung-fu scenes.

    - The story is just as confusing as Reloaded. It seems to have alot to say, but doesnt quite put it all together.

    - There are some cool special effects. One punch, in particular produced a colletive "Whoa" from the audience!

    - The battle sequence with the APU's is impressive.

    - I think Neo's conversation with the ruler of the machines may contain the deepest sustained bass I have heard in a film. The machine's voice shook the theater. Bass-heads should enjoy it.

I bought Reloaded on DVD, I probably wont buy Revolutions.

Saw this today at noon at a sneak preview sponsored by Extreme Networks (sometimes being an IT guy has its perks!)

The effects were GREAT and everything moved at a pretty quick pace. Some parts of Reloaded dragged a bit for me, but this one never seemed to. This one also had a more "epic" feel than the other two, if that makes sense.

I definitely plan to see this one a few more times on the big screen. I look forward to reading everyone's reviews and comments over the next few days.

    EDIT:
    Here is a tease:
I was wondering why there have not been many reviews at this late date. Here are more reviews that just became available at Rotten Tomatoes

Saw it last night...I'm still in shock on how horrible that movie really was. Take us back to the 1st installment...ahhh, original, fresh, suspense, intrigue, awe.

    Now the 2nd....disappointed, bored, confused...

How bout this 3rd one....disgusted, laughable, frustrated, shocked...

Shocked that two guys could come up with such a great movie (1st installment) and end up ruining it by making these dung pile sequels.

Yeah nice special effects blah, blah blah, but where the hell was the story?? Anyone? Jesus Tap Dancin Christ! Are you sure George Lucas wasn't involved??

I saw this at a screening in D.C. last night, it had a WB sponser there. At the end he asked, "So how did everyone like it?" He was met with jeers and boos.

    Wow, what the hell happened?

The tomatometer for Revolutions went up from 25% to 32%. The "cream of the crop" rating is at 22%.

    Yikes.

I know. Someone will inevitably say "the critics are always wrong!" Well, no, they aren't always wrong. And when there is a strong concensus amoung critics, I tend to agree with their overall conclusions. (For example, Kurosawa's Ran got a 96% rating on the tomatometer.)

On the upside, this will send me into the theater tomorrow with very low expectations.

The one downside to the tomatometer is that it reduces every review to a binary response, then averages those. I would prefer if a site converted every review to a percentage then averaged those. That would give you far more information.

I admit to being a bit worried. But many of those reviewers take potshots at Reloaded, a brilliant film IMO.

So maybe there's plenty of hope after all. Plenty of critics I respect liked it.

    Doesn't mean I will.

    Plenty of them didn't.

    Doesn't mean I won't.

I'll know in 24 hours [IMG]

    I can't wait,

Honestly, the only thing I am worried about--as far as the reviews go--are those that suggest that the questions raised in RELOADED are not answered.

That would be like ROTJ not providing any back story at all about Vader, Luke, Obi-Wan, etc. Imagine how incensed you would have been.

I also think that some of the REVOLUTIONS reviews could be RELOADED revisionism...remember RELOADED was about 70-80% positive reviews. Maybe some critics can't stand going against the "public sentiment" on RELOADED, and feel the need to trash REVOLUTIONS for it.

Yikes... I've yet to even see Reloaded! Now I'm wondering if I should do like I did with Highlander: refuse to admit that any sequels ever existed so as not to ruin the first film.

    >sigh< What's a sci-fi geek to do?

    Sigh...

I usually don't put a lot of weight into reviews but when a certain critical mass is reached you have to begin to believe they're realistic views of the movie.

I really liked Reloaded. I know it has its faults but I still enjoy the ride. I probably will be saying the same thing after Revolutions, at least I hope so.

In any event, it's a shame to think that this Trilogy apparently fails to fulfill its great promise.

If I have any consolation, it's that RotK is looking to be the real deal and the rare movie that actually finishes a trilogy on a very strong note.

Well basically every major magazine and newspaper has given it a negative review. La Times, Ny Times, USA Today, Newsweek, CNN, Rolling Stone to name a few. This thing is tanking so far with the critics.

You gotta give this guy credit for the creative disses in this review, but good lord, the W Bros are getting raped over this film! When was the last time that a film was universally slammed like this?
