So--I just replaced my aged Windows Vista era PC with a tower that includes AMD A8-5500 processor w/ integrated Radeon graphics and 4GB RAM. Got a deal because it came loaded with Windows 8. Downloaded free Win 10 upgrade (which took HOURS) and I've amost got it to where I'm satisfied with it; not blazing fast on image editing software like I had hoped, but still a drastic improvement.

Problem is: Windows Media Player doesn't seem to want to play DVDs. My previous machine did with no add-on; is this new one different? If I do need to download a driver, what's the best (hopefully *free*) app available?

Another alternative: do i have enough power for an external blu-ray drive--and if so, what's a good one?

Okay--I got VLC running with no hassle. It's pretty good, but with a 27" LED monitor, I'm thinking I may go shopping for that BD drive, anyway.
