I was looking to pick up this blu ray single on amazon.uk as I wanted this version of the film (dts also). The CR disc in the BOND 50 set is supposed to be region free, but Amazon UK says this standalone release is region 2/b. can anyone out there reconfirm this ?

All I can confirm is that the Bond 50 CR disc in the Amazon.co.uk box plays fine in my Region A unit.

I've been trying to find a picture of the backside
Of the single blu ray disc to see if it has all regions
Logo on it or not , no luck so far.

I ordered the single BD UK Casino Royale disc. If it don't work in my PS3 ...I'll hang it in my car on the rear view mirror

Just received the UK Uncut version from Amazon.UK and the standalone 15 Rating ....is indeed Regions ABC....so it should indeed play in a Region 1 player.

As far as i can tell...about 20 seconds of violence during the pre-credit
Sequence...that was edited out during the theatrical
Run (pg-13) and the current DVD and blu ray offerings here
    In North America

Not only the pre-credits, there was also cuts during the awesome staircase fight.

You have not seen this movie until you have seen it uncut (as it was shown in certain countries like France). It's awesome :)

I long ago imported the uncut version, and to be completely and totally honest - if you don't know what you're looking for, and by that I mean if you haven't either looked it up online or don't watch them back to back, I believe you won't really notice the difference. It's very, very minimal.

I had the Asia uncut DTS DVD from 2007 and
It had this extra footage. I dont recall the extra stuff
In the stairwell scene...but i watch for it when i spin
The disc up over the weekend.

The big addition to the staircase fight I believe is that you see the falling body actually hit the ground. The theatrical version cuts out a handful of frames before the impact.

I beg to differ. Before I had even seen the film (and knew of the US version being cut), clips from the uncut stairwell fight were appearing on UK TV shows as promotion and if those had been missing from the film in the cinema I'd have noticed. The cuts are made quite well, mostly, but they are noticable.

The UK Blu-ray was only 7.97 on Amazon when I looked; cheapest uncut import you can get.

Here's the list of cuts. I think it makes a HUGE difference in the tone of the film.

With respect, all it boils down to is making two fight sequences in the movie slightly more graphic, which does not make a huge difference to the tone of the film. I have the Australian BD of the movie which is uncut, and reading through that list, nothing there really makes me think the cut version would be any worse. A difference of several seconds of film, in very fast moving fight scenes.

Yeah, don't be fooled by how long that list is. We're talking SECONDS. In many cases, we're talking about a few trimmed frames.
If you like the uncut version better, that's one thing. But to say that it drastically alters the tone of the film is, in my opinion, untrue.

Keep in mind though that the U.K. version has the torture scene cut by a few shots, so where you gain in some scenes you will lose in others...
