I'd still love to see a Spielberg Bond movie, but I worry that by now that urge is out of his system. And we all know what happens when something is out of Spielberg's system...
...we get INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL ;)

Saw it for a second time last night, and while I already loved it and considered it one of the best, it's even better the second time around. It's such an amazing film. Definitely in the top tier of Bond films in my ranking. I've recently thought of a tier system to ranking the Bond films, since it's always been hard for me to rank certain groups idividually, so here's what I came up with (and each tier I listed those films chronologically):
Tier 1: FRWL, OHMSS, SF
Tier 2: GF, TB, GE, CR
Tier 3: TMWTGG, TLD, LTK
Tier 4: DN, TSWLM, FYEO
Tier 5: LALD, OP, AVTAK, QOS
Tier 6: TND, TWINE, DAD
Tier 7: DAF, MR
Tier 8: YOLT

This was an often gorgeous to view, slickly made, Daniel Craig action movie.
Where's the spirit of Bond? Where's the soul of Bond? I sure as HELL didn't find it in this film.
And I'm now ready for a new actor to portray Bond. Please.

The UK goes gaga over Bond as Skyfall beats Avatar at the box office -

After the weekend's screenings, Skyfall was on the precipice of breaking Avatar's gargantuan £94 million UK box office record, with its return to Britain's number one spot helping it hit approximately £93.8 million. Now, after more receipts have come in, the all-important 94 number has been reached, making Skyfall the biggest-selling movie in the history of British cinema. That precise number? £94,277,612. £94,277,612 in 40 days, no less, which is all the more staggering considering Avatar got to that number with the help of both inflated 3D ticket prices and an 11 month timespan. In other words, as Kim Newman wrote in Empire's review, "One thing’s certain: James Bond will return…", making the pressure on screenwriter John Logan all the greater as he attempts two connected sequels for Bond 24 and 25. Globally, Skyfall has earned around $870 million at the time of writing, trouncing the $599 million set by Casino Royale back in 2006 and the $591 million from Quantum Of Solace.

A new actor to portray Bond won't change the tone of the Bond films. The writers of the movies have all the power.

By the way, for those bothered by the hint of "gay" between Bardem/Craig...
Watch the Craig/Armisen skit on SNL...where Arimisen is cross-dressed...hysterical.

Better than Quantumn of Solace, but not the best Bond ever. Pretty good but too long. Could have used a bit of trimming. Bardem's character's motivation seemed weak for a revenge based film. One good thing........Dench is gone. Good riddance. Now, maybe "M" will just go back to meaning "M" instead of Mother. The gay tinges I could have done without. Bond was a lady killer. I haven't read all of Ian Flemings's books, but the ones I have read never indicated that Bond was anything but a heterosexual.

I think there's been much ado about nothing over that scene. My take on it is that Silva is trying to freak out renowned pussyhound James Bond by making a move on him. However, Bond doesn't let him get under his skin and deflects Silva's mind game by acting like it's something he's familiar with. Bond is just playing a game of psychological oneupsmanship rather than making a revealing statement about his love life.

I interpreted the scene exactly the same. He is man enough not to have to worry.
Actually, I thought it was a pretty cool move on Bond's part.
Ditto! On both points.

Surprising that the much-reviled Quantum Of Solace has taken the same kind of money as the much-admired Casino Royale.

Maybe it is because I've watched "all the Bond", even the "non-Bond..." and the spoofs(Johnny English anybody??)...
I don't get why QoS is reviled.

Me neither. I found it to be a hell of a one-two punch following Casino Royal. Casino introduced the new Bond, QoS wrapped up the intro and Skyfall set the stage for the future. Taken all together, they work great.

I'm ready for the next film! I'm still hoping they redo Moonraker close to the book.

My reasons.
Underwhelming villains ie bankers.
When the best scene in the movie is Bond breaking up a business meeting ie at the opera telling the consortium their meeting has been compromised, that's not a
good thing for an action movie.
Run of the mill destroy the bad guys hangout closing act and dispatching of villain.
I don't revile QOS, I just find it dull.

My only issues with QoS are the overly aggressive shaky cam tactic and the lightening fast edits. I thought the action scenes were a mess. I could not focus on who was doing what with all the camera motion in every possible direction. Add that to the editing of shots only lasting the blink of an eye...it's exhausting.
