Netflix Picture Quality (1 Viewer)

I am a Comcast customer - internet, land-line phone, and cable. Download is over 50 on laptops and PC's but only 13 for Netflix through my PS3. Most of the time the speed is too slow for 3D movies. Maybe this will help. Or, it might just be the PS3 limitations.

It appears to have kicked on. My NFS has been showing 1080 on all content that is superHD and 3D.On the other hand it looks like a few 3D movies have been deleted.

I've got 15/5 Fios with my Tivo connected to ethernet. Should be plenty fast for pseudo-HD streaming. During off-peak hours, Netflix is nicely watchable. DVD quality, if not HD. But prime-time, it's 288 SD or worse (imagine mediocre analog reception).

TiVo roamio. The key is that its streaming quality plummets in prime time.

Your ISP is also to blame for that. Maybe even more so than Netflix.

Watching Netflix at 9:30 pm on a Wednesday, quality is 384 SD. It's easily watchable DVD quality. But HD seems impossible to get out here at any reasonable time. I need re-check that the TiVo does actually support HD from Netflix.

Tivo supports Netflix HD. Apparently Fios and/or Netflix do not.

Same here....I've been laid up post-surgery and have watched mucho Netflix (and Amazon), including primetime via my Panny blu-ray player. Never any problems getting great HD streams, including when my 4 kids are gaming, watching Netflix on their TVs, and surfing the net. I have Uverse 24 meg download speed with everything connected wirelessly. I watched The Avengers last night while both sons were playing DOTA online on their PC's and other son was playing Xbox online. No issues at all.

I don't really get it either. I've got 15 Mbps Fios. Picture quality should be awesome. But it's not. It's sub-DVD. C'est la regional monopolies?

While I have Verizon Fios Quantum 157mb/sec download / 74mb/sec upload I still have not signed on with any streaming service! The one thing I do not see value in is purchasing titles via a cable company or any other service be it iTunes or anyone else. How good is the actual quality because I have a hard time seeing it being as good as a bluray being played in a good quality bluray player. And for me it doesn't matter if it is HBO, Stars or video on demand I hate having to listen to lossy Dolby Digital. We have lossless PCM, Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio and it sounds like we will soon have some bluray titles with Dolby Atmos available. How many out there purchase movies where you have to stream them from a cable company or streaming service? How many people are concerned about what will happen to there investment if the streaming service or cable company goes out of business?

When streaming delivers a good solid hidef stream, it's almost indistinguishable from blu-ray. But some providers seem to throttle netflix connections, even if the user pays for a fast connection.
