Once again, a huge shout out to Neil N who got me the set and put it in the mail to me. The 10 discs arrived this morning and I absolutely love them!
They surely must put out more volumes in the future! I need em all! I am so happy with the audio/visual quality of these, plus the Movie Moments extras I've watched so far (Yoda auditions, Flipperdance, Frogfather) are hysterical, nice to have the Brian Henson intros there too.
It's incredible how very few TV shows still manage to make me laugh out loud more then once per episode upon repeat viewings. Simpsons does, and so does the Muppet Show. Even the sight of Beaker appearing out of nowhere, screaming then dissappearing into thin air has me gasping for air I find it so funny. It is brilliance that can never be matched.
I'm wondering though, who has the rights to Muppets Tonight? Is that stuck with Disney?

Dan,
Yeah I'm pretty sure Muppets Tonight is owned by Disney.
I still haven't seen the unaired episode of Muppet's Tonight with Sandra Bullock. I think they showed it sometime later, but never saw it.
They didn't air it due to a terrorist sketch,(parody of Speed 2) when a certain terrorist situation was taking place somewhere. (I think it may have been a school shooting, now that I think about it!)
MUPPET'S TONIGHT IS ONE GREAT SHOW AS WELL
P.S. DAN,
BEAKER is my fav. muppet too! :)

The BBC had the rights to Muppets Tonight here, they never even aired the second season, so that's all unseen to me. I really did like the show, it seemed to perfectly update the Muppet Show to the 90s for a contemporary satire on modern media and what have you.
Anyone remember the one where they're low on ratings and have to run an ep of Seinfeld or the Muppet Babies? As I recall Gonzo is carrying one tape, Rizo the other. They run into one another and the tapes scramble, they run it anyway and it becomes a hybrid 'Seinfeld Babies.' It was genius...
Also, Pepe is a god in my eyes, ok? :) His appearance in the Yoda Auditions on the one of the Muppet Show discs was brilliant.

I recall that Sandra Bullock episode. They set it up as someone who had planted a bomb in the building.... If memory serves, it was another guest star posing as a muppet who could not get booked onto the show that week or something. I forget who it was.

Yes, they did show the Speed thing, and Crazy Harry had planted a bomb
Also, Pepe is a god in my eyes, ok? His appearance in the Yoda Auditions on the one of the Muppet Show discs was brilliant.
I'll have to forward that to Bill, I'm sure he'll be honored. I think Pepe is his favorite character to preform. Maybe I should take a picture of my autographed Pepe headshot

Jeff,
I can't get enough of Pepe. I don't know what it is about him. I just love is little "Oks" at the end of frequent sentances...

On this years HTF LA meet, a couple of us are going to blow $43 for entrance fee into the California Adventure park at Disney just for about 4 or 5 hours in the afternoon, mainly to do Muppet Vision 3D, which I've not done since I was last in Florida in 94 (I can tell you the other insaine man wanting to do this with me, is JohnS from above).
I'm ready to raid the Muppet shop with my credit card, with my fingers crossed they have some sort of Pepe plush doll or something, ok....

I'll pass on your fandom Dan, I'll see if I can't find something spiffy for you :)
In case you care, Bill Barretta also does Rolph, Swedish Chef, Bobo, Johnny Fiama(there's a great story behind this character which is too long to type here) and many others. He was also the man inside the Earl suit in Dinosaurs

Dan,
While you are at Disney's California Adventure....you MUST, MUST, MUST also see the new "Soarin' Over California" show/ride. In my opinion, this is the best thing they have in that park (was just there this past weekend). The fastpass system Disney has works great...so you could get a fastpass for the Soarin' ride then go see the Muppets, then come back later at your designated time for Soarin' and not have to wait in line. After you are inside the Soarin' building, there will be three lines made while you are in the "pre-boarding" section. The best seats are in row #1 (These seats rise the highest in the theater). Ask for that row when inside; they should let you wait for it. This ride is truly incredible......the Jerry Goldsmith music is georgous, and the inovation and originality of the ride is Disney at its best.
See you at the dinners in L.A.

Thanks for that list, Mark, but when you list "Christopher Langh" in Series 5 I think you mean Chris Langham.
I remember watching him guest in an episode back when it originally aired, and was delighted because he was/is one of my favourite stand-up comedians. While he was not as well known as the usual guests, I guess he got the spot because he was one of the writers (btw, Python fans can also see him appear in a number of guises in "Life of Brian").
I just wish that the DVDs were available for import to this country!

MarkBurton, your list of guest stars is not in appearance order. Here's a link to the IMDB list of guest stars for The Muppet Show; it's in appearance order.

Thanks for the info! I corrected Chris Langham. Also, I had put the stars in Alphabetical Order. I didn't know the order of appearance, so thanks for that link. I love this site.

Placed my order. I'm very excited to get these. Backordered though, I hope I have them by month's end. Maybe? Maybe no.
I would love to also have Muppets tonight.
I am a Pepe fan as well. But there are many many muppets that I love ok?

Actually, it's really a nice feeling to be able to help another HTF'er out. As for the muppet disks, all I can say is I can't wait for the next release from Time/Life.
