Hello,
Does anyone know how I can backup my MS Outlook 2000 inbox? I can't find where the files are stored.

What OS are you running? If you are using Win 2k/XP it will be located in
documents and settingslocal settingsapplication datamicrosoftoutlook

Otherwise just open up a search and look for a PST file (*.pst).

Make sure outlook is closed, and copy the file to wherever you want it.

Don't forget you have to unhide your system files in the "folder options" menu to get to that directory.

If you are using the program with Outlook servers, all the mail is stored on the server. I have the same issue at work, so I created a personal folder (w. subfolders) and now copy the mail I want to save to those folders. The resulting *.pst file (detailed in a previous post) can easily be copied or backed up. For recovery, simply import the pst...

Joe,

MS has released a spiffy add-in for Outlook that automates this...just download and install, tell it how often you want to back up your PST, and where to store it, and you're done.

The latest version of the add-in works with Outlook 2000 and later. You can grab it here:
