Hated is a strong word. I can't think of very many movies I *hated*.
I can think of a recent movie I didn't enjoy, while everyone else seemed to:
Signs.
One of those films you respect for the craftsmanship, yet bores you to tears since you can see the eventual ending coming from the moment Gibson says he has lost his faith.
Heat. I like Michael Mann most of the time but that one didn't work for me.
The Bourne Identity. It's okay, I don't *hate* it, but it didn't really engage me. I think it's because I never fully bought Matt Damon as that character.
Conan the Barbarian. Classic musical score, didn't like much else about it
Just about, that's one of the problems. To be a great war movie, PR should have died too, that would have been a good start. It just had this mellow Hollywood feel to it in the end, created far too positive feeling unlike some of the all time greats (Das Boot, Cross of Iron and the fairly unknown Tuntematon Sotilas).
2001: A Space Odyssey. Great movie as a show off for effects, but story-wise it's long and dull. Yeah, I know it's deep, but that doesn't save it, you can make deep and entertaining movies, but this movie is just deep and boring.
could people say why they hated the particular films.
Somone listed American Splendor, and I was curious why. Its almost universally praised.
i didnt care for cliffhanger. I thought it was pretty dismal, but others called its sly's comeback pic in the early 90s. I thought it was badly directed, cartoonsish, with unrealistic and silly action.
Yeah im glad I asked this question, seems like a good topic of discussion.
Alot of Forrest Gump noms. (I personally loved it):b
I would agree that hate might be a bit stong. I did like a few things in The Thin Red Line. The battle scenes were nice. And a nod to some acting in it.
MI-2 is right at the top of becoming hate though. This movie was bad!
I can definitely see whay people wouldnt like Lost In Translation
