Nobody has nominated either of these, and I am shocked (especially at you Andrew!):
Jules Winnfield
Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction.
I will also nominate Tommy DeVito (Pesci) for Goodfellas.

Big:
Magenta - The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Riff Raff - The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Two of my favorite characters from one of my favorite movies
The Goblin King - Labyrinth
David Bowie is entrancing and memorable in this movie. I think his role would be considered big here but I could be wrong.
Small:
Good job picking Galadriel, Andy-She was my next choice :)
Bilbo Baggins - Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings
Eddie - The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Ben/Obiwan Kenobi - Star Wars
Elrond, The King of the Elves (aka Arwen's father) - Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings
I also considered nominating Dr. Frank N Furter (Big) from Rocky Horror as well as Q from the James Bond series (Gotta love that neat gadget maker) (Small)
Two other very, very strong contenders included: Saavik from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Mr. Hand from Dark City but I was uncertain whether their roles would be considered Big or Small?
Also, what is the total number of nominations currently allowed? Is it 5 big and 5 small or some other amount?

Vicki, please notice that I changed one of my movie titles from Sullivan’s Travels to The Lady Eve. I got on a roll and forgot which Sturges movie was which. And btw, thanks Agee.

Wow, these are hard to narrow down....

Large:
Howard Beale (Peter Finch) - Network
I want you to get up right now, and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out, and yell: "I'm as mad as Hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) - This is Spinal Tap
This one goes to 11.

Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) - Blade Runner
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper) - Blue Velvet
Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst! Blue! Ribbon!

Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro) - Taxi Driver
Some day a real rain will come....

Small:
Black Knight (John Cleese) - Monty Python and the Holy Grail
It's just a flesh wound!

Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) - Goodfellas (possibly large??)
What the fuck is so funny about me?

Blake (Alec Baldwin) - Glengarry Glen Ross
Third prize is you're fired.

Eli Cash (Owen Wilson) - The Royal Tenenbaums
I always wanted to be a Tenenbaum.

Jeremy Hilary Boob (Dick Emery) - Yellow Submarine
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

(I was tempted to nominate Holy Grail characters for ALL the small roles!!!)

You know, I just re-read the first post in this thread and I realize that neither Tommy DeVito, Eli Cash, nor Jeremy qualifies as a "small" role. That's okay, except for Tommy I wasn't too thrilled with those choices anyway. Please replace them with:

Rags (??) - Sleeper
Woof woof woof! Hello, I'm Rags. Woof woof woof!

Mr. McCleery (Norman Fell) - The Graduate
You're not one of those agitators? One of those outside agitators? I hate that. I won't stand for it.

Andy (Jon Lovitz) - Happiness
This is for the girl who loves me. The girl who cares about me, for who I am. Not what I look like. I just wanted you to know what you'd be missing. You think I don't understand art. You think I don't understand fashion. You think I'm not hip. You think I'm pathetic. A nerd. A lard-ass fatso. You think I'm shit. Well, you're wrong. 'Cause I'm champagne. And you're shit! And till the day you die...you...not me...will ALWAYS be shit.
