1. Barcelona - B+ (Witty comedy portraying an "ugly American" naval officer visiting his mild-mannered brother in the titular city.)
2. The Last Days of Disco - B+
3. Damsels in Distress - B
4. Metropolitan - B- (Remember when director's first films looked like a first film? Metropolitan is one of these.)

Seen all three. All worth seeing. Has Stillman retired or something? Nothing since '98?

Damsels in Distress - B
What an odd curio! Feels like I should give this a B+ as it had a line that made me laugh so much I had to pause the film and it had a couple of terrific dance/music sequences. Greta Gerwig is plenty charming in the lead too. Stillman's dialogue still sings in that rhythmic deadpan (though the delivery isn't as strong as in his previous films). BUT, there are just too many dead scenes that don't do enough or are outright silly, and outside of the chief 3-4 characters, the other actors (and the lines they are given to deliver) take way more off the table then they bring to it. Also feels like this was much longer either filming wise or in conception and was drastically trimmed down.
