My wife has had an increase in SPAM since getting her iPhone. Worse, it seems MobileMe doesn't do spam filtering, or does it very badly, because she gets lots of spam in her iPhone inbox. Weirdly, it seems spam filtering is primarily done client-side, by Apple Mail on the desktop; but when her iMac sleeps that can't happen.

So...uhm...is there a hidden toggle in MobileMe that turns on spam filtering? Is Apple still in 1999 with regard to SPAM and expects you to do all processing and filtering client-side, rather than server side?

How do you deal with SPAM on your iPhone with MobileMe?

    Dave,

I had thought perhaps MobileMe introduced spam filtering

this past year, but heard very little about it since then.

By far, spam is a HUGE problem on the iPhone and you

need a means of dealing with it.

What most people do is filter all their email through Google GMAIL.

I was in the process of sending you instructions until I
realized, you wrote the book on how to do it.

So, I suppose, unless someone knows more about spam

filtering with MobileMe, there hasn't been a better solution

    introduced as of yet.

As an update, my wife discovered she was using an outdated setting in either Mail or MM, from before MM added spam filtering. She toggled a setting and things got a lot better. She's pretty locked into MM, having been using .Mac for several years; I'd be hard pressed to switch her to GMail (which I use).

We'll see how things go for her now that she's got the right setting activated.
