MELROSE PLACE Season 5, not coming? (1 Viewer)

I can't believe this! MELROSE PLACE Season 4 was released two weeks before BEVERLY HILLS 90210 Season 4 and now not only they release season 5 of that show before but also announce Season 6 before any word on MP Season 5? Up to now, I figured things were cool because MELROSE PLACE usually has a Spring release and a Fall release (last year, Season 3 was in stores on November 13) but this kinda worries me, especially since lots of other titles have been announced for November by CBS/Paramount. Are we going to be left holding the bag yet again?

they are going into overdrive on 90210 because of the CW revival of the series. They want to be able to get the attention from the "if you like the new show, get the old show" plugs. don't worry too much. They got 3 seasons of Melrose to release.

I guess you're right but I just can't stand not being able to complete the shows I collect, MP being one of them. It took years for it to be on DVD, so I'd be very disappointed if it wasn't completed and it's not really reassuring when you see other Spelling shows getting further releases (DYNASTY, 7TH HEAVEN, BH 90210) and there's still no annoucement for more MP, especially considering that the first two seasons of MP and BH 90210 were released on the same dates and that didn't continue with further seasons, probably due to BH 90210 selling better.

I am getting worried myself about MP season 5 but with Rob Estes being part of the new 90210 it might help push Melrose to completion if it is stalled. I am hoping for an announcement in the coming days though.

I sympathize with fans of the show, but I'm not interested in any of the missing MP seasons. After You Know What happened at the end of season 3 and Who Cares Who bit it in season 4, I lost interest in the show originally, and I can't see it changing now.

BTW, I think the rest of the seasons will get released, eventually.

Oh, there's no doubt that by Season 5, the show was past its prime. But I still want the last three seasons for completion's sake.

I REALLY want season. I was an extra in Hollywood during that year; I was on MP about 8 times. You can see me a lot in that season; i want the dvd for a souvenir!

Two months later and still no sign of Melrose's season 5. I'm getting more worried every day . . . Time is pretty much running out for the announcement of a fall release. First we had to put up with the less than stellar new and cheaper looking packaging for season 4 and now this.

I have a feeling that Season 5 will be announced around the same time as BH 90210: Season 8. That way they will both be completed on DVD at the same time.

Well the ratings for the new 90210 have been quite good, so I'd expect them to continue on past season 6 for the old show dvds. Maybe Melrose is just stalled because the employees have to step up the engineering of the 90210 episodes, because Paramount is clearly fast-tracking them. Probably the MP people were switched to working on more 90210. Hope it straightens out soon--it's gonna end up being more than a year between releases.

...but it's still not as slow as Party of Five and Everwood.... :frowning:

As someone has mentioned previously though, let's not forget that the last three years of MP did star Rob Estes who is on the new 90210. You're right, let's not give up hope yet! Good things come to those who wait and time has proven we were right to hold a torch for titles such as PARTY OF FIVE, EVERWOOD, KNOTS LANDING, NIGHT COURT, THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW and THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY.

As long as Paramount keeps releasing the show, I don't really mind waiting, it would just be reassuring to have some news. I know they're busy with the number of "complete series" sets they are releasing before Christmas but I'm still hoping they won't let it rest for too long. Spring 2009 for MP Season 5 seems a plausible timeframe, although that's mere speculation on my part.

When season 5 comes out, I'll have to make some screen caps and post them here; because I was an extra several times in that year. I never watched that season--I lived it! I was drunk at Shooter's, worked as a cook in Kyle's restaurant, I think I worked D&D once. I also remember being in the casino scene with Lisa Rinna. One time I wandered into the soundstage where the apartment building lived; that pool was tiny, let me tell you!

CW wants to revive Melrose Place - so odds are the DVDs will be wrapped up once this gets on the road.

Yep Corey--I read that rumor too. That would so nice to have it back on the air. It would likely have a completely new cast (maybe Josie Bissett could be the original cast member Emeritus, like Kelly is on the new 90210??) But any new MP show would certainly generate nostalgia for the older series, and therefore--the remaining 3 seasons on dvd. And I also want to know where melroseguy got his info Hopefully it's all true!

Damn ! I hate the half season thing ! I'm glad that more MELROSE is coming, but I surely didn't expect them to pull that crap on us now! The least popular seasons are going to end up being the most expensive.

what a joke! 5 seasons in and they changed to volumes??? no buy from me, i wont support a company that splits seasons. I dont want to pay twice as much for the same thing. I will just watch it when netflix gets it.
