I would also think that all profits would go to the BAnd Aid Trust. I also want to express my displeasure if we really do get tailored DVDs per country, because Canada really get's the stinky end of the stick on that deal. After a double header of Tom Cocharan and Brian Adams, I couldn't watch our coverage anymore, and basically skipped watching any of it.

I also want to express my concern with the Tokyo shows, were none of these aired? Really, the only artist I was interested in was Bjork. Is Bjork really MIA in all the coverage?

I know I sound less than impressed with the event, but I well gladly buy a "complete" set of this. I just knew that the coverage we were going to get from CTV here in Canada was going to be apalling, hosted by one of the most annoying entertainment "reporters" ever spawned by demons, and the 40 mins I watched did absolutly nothing to dispell it.

How many DVDs would this take up? 10 concerts at what, 8-10 hours each? Cut out the patter in between, would it be 3 DVD's per country?

I couldn't agree more. I watched pretty much the entire Canadian portion from Barrie and I was constantly disappointed. The Tragically Hip (one of my favorite Canadian bands) sounded absolutely DREADFUL. Add the giant snooze fest with Jann Arden, as well as Tom Cochrane's less than stellar performance, I was not impressed. The highlight of the show was BY FAR Deep Purple. They sounded amazing. I also got a kick out of the crowd booing Celine Dion when they announced she would be performing via satellite from Vegas. I was also disappointed with the MC's for the show. Tom Green and Dan Aykroyd were horrid hosts. They were totally out of their element.

As I stated above, I'd like to see a mixed bag with the BEST performances. 4-disc, 6-disc...........10-disc.......whatever. But I will not spend my hard earned money on just the Canadian concert. It just stunk.

The show was postponed due to the attacks in London today. I believe it's been rescheduled for next week.

For those of you that thought that the MTV/VH1 coverage totally bit the big one, they are rebroadcasting portions of the complete perfomances on Sat. 7/9. Full story ishere.

I'm sure someone said it already.

But a multi-disc set with each disc for each concert. That I think would be best.

I wonder if it was shot in HD.

I'm coming to like Mr Gilmour more and more. A couple of years ago he sold his house in London for some vast amount of money, and, on the argument that he was already rich enough, gave the money to a charity for homeless people. Before anyone jumps in with a smartass 'tax dodge' argument - something like this loses you money in the UK.

Getting back on topic - I suspect that each region will get their country's acts plus a 'best of' the rest (though what the **** constitutes 'best of' in the American portion is anyone's guess). In other words - something to please no-one.

Given that the acts are free and that it costs peanuts to make a DVD disc, why not just do *all* the concerts on one no-frills big set for those that want it, and then country-only sets alongside? Also, to push the message of LIve8 across, the films specially prepared for the event can be put on tracks between the acts. Whether you agree with all of the arguments or not, those films were an integral part of the event and should be included.

Oh and by the way - before griping about the lacklustre performances on the Saturday main event, just be grateful you weren't inflicted with the Scottish concert later in the week.

Okay, Nicholas, I'll agree she was the exception. And in fairness, the Proclaimers weren't bad (and the song was apposite).

About having the regions getting their respective concerts.... what about Region 1? Does that mean that the Barrie and Philly concerts would be together?

As a huge Proclaimers fan I was thilled they opened the final concert, and annoyed that it was unavailable to anyone outside the UK. Hopefully they, at least, will turn up on the DVD. Tho probably only on the UK version.

so when does it come out?lol i wonder also if these dvds will be censored since a few of the performers did swear during their performances. and one of the reasons its taking so long getting the dvds out might be that they are removing the swears and such from the performances

So the inevitable question, although the answer seems to be "no": will there be a super-duper box set that has everything? Can't be too difficult to even just stick the 3-disc London/Philly set plus the 4 individual discs into a sleeve, a la LOTR EE?

Yeah, I am also disappointed. Glad that Robbie Williams got four songs, but only one track by Pet Shop Boys. I guess in it's current state, purchase of this set comes down to price and how much I need to have a companion piece to LiveAid.
