Enter the mind of an American sports legend when Letters From Jackie: The Private Thoughts of Jackie Robinson arrives on DVD July 16 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. A whole new generation has been inspired by the amazing life story of Jackie Robinson due to the success of the film 42 (over $75 million at the US box office and counting). This original documentary from Major League Baseball Productions chronicles Robinson's thoughts and ambitions as he became one of America's greatest athletes, as well as a towering symbol of the civil rights movement. The Letters From Jackie: The Private Thoughts of Jackie Robinson DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $9.98.
Letters from Jackie: The Private Thoughts of Jackie Robinson explores Jackie's deepest motivations as he solidifies his role in the civil rights movement after his days as a trailblazing baseball player. The film uses unedited and uncensored letters written by Jackie to iconic figures such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Eisenhower. Interviews with his daughter, Sharon Robinson; his pen pal, Ron Rabinovitz; historian Joe Dorinson; and an array of MLB players paint a vivid picture of this iconic individual.
