Amelie - easily

Andre - doesn't thrill me, but at least he can make good conversation

abstain (haven't seen either)

Annie Savoy - this was hard. Though I think Amadeus is a far, far better movie, Annie is a more complex and interesting character... the kind of multi-faceted female role we don't see nearly enough of.

Ash - another tough one. My inner LOTR fanboy is wincing, but Ash has such great lines.

Antonio Salieri -Very, very difficult because both are great characters.

Aragorn-Also, very, very hard because I will hate to see either of these great characters lose in the first round. Ask me again later and I would be strongly tempted to vote for Ash. *Sigh Ugh-head is going to explode cuz they are both great characters.

Wow, a lot of great characters are falling by the wayside. Sorry, can't help the matchups. They're strictly alphabetical. There sure are some strange and interesting matchups that way.

I realize that many of the quotes within the tourney might offend some people. All I can do is apologise in advance. You should have seen some of the ones I didn't use! (48 Hrs, oy!!)

Btw, Babe is no longer in this tourney. I originally added him without seconds and thirds, and when there was one character too many, he had to go. :frowning: He was one of those OH MY GOD! WE ALL FORGOT ____! additions. There were a few, but most of them got taken out.

Amelie (Amelie) Audrey Tautou wins 8-6
Andre (My Dinner with Andre) Andre Gregory wins 4-3
Andy Dufresne(Shawshank Redemption, The)Tim Robbins wins 9-5
Antonio Salieri(Amadeus)F. Murray Abraham wins 12-4
Ash(Evil Dead series)Bruce Campbell wins 9-6

Atticus Finch(To Kill a Mockingbird)Gregory Peck
"Now gentlemen, in this country our courts are the great levelers, and in our courts all men are created equal. I'm no idealist to believe firmly in the integrity of our courts and of our jury system. That's no ideal to me. That is a living, working reality. Now I am confident that you gentlemen will review without passion the evidence that you have heard, come to a decision, and restore this man to his family. In the name of God, do your duty. In the name of God, believe Tom Robinson."

or

Austin Powers(Austin Powers series)Mike Myers
"I've been frozen for 30 years. I've got to see if my bits and pieces are still working."

Axel Foley(Beverly Hills Cop)Eddie Murphy
"Disturbing the peace?! I got thrown out of a window! What's the fuckin' charge for getting pushed out of a moving car, huh? Jaywalking?!"

or

Barry Egan(Punch Drunk Love)Adam Sandler
"I have a love in my life. It makes me stronger than anything you can imagine."

Barton Fink(Barton Fink)John Turturro
"Who cares about the fifth Earl of Bathsdrop and Lady Higgenbottom and... and... who killed Nigel Grinchgibbons?"

or

Batman/Bruce Wayne(Batman)Michael Keaton et.al.
"This isn't exactly a normal world, is it?"

Beavis(Beavis and Butthead)Mike Judge
"I AM CORNHOLIO! Do you have TP for my bunghole?"

or

Beetlejuice(Beetlejuice)Michael Keaton
"Ah. Well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT... NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY... NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK?!? You think I'm qualified?"

Benjamin Braddock(Graduate, The)Dustin Hoffman
"Mrs. Robinson, if you don't mind my saying so, this conversation is getting a little strange."

or

Berger(Hair)Treat Williams
"I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy, shining
Gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted; Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled and spaghettied!"
