I'd be happy with either myself.Thomas T said:Just a guess but I suspect it's either The Bride Wore Black (with that Bernard Herrmann score) or possibly Mississippi Mermaid. Either one would be more than welcome.
The Party would just be too much straight up fun for Criterion. Haven't they already exhausted their yearly allotment of schtick with It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World?Brandon Conway said:Possibly with Criterion, if the New Year drawing is being interpreted correctly.
Never, Schtict is never exhausted when good. Biridie num-num.ROclockCK said:The Party would just be too much straight up fun for Criterion. I didn't think so, but thought I'd express the hope. MGM should be flogged for what they did to THE ALAMO.Brandon Conway said:I don't think Kino is in the position to do any restoration or extensive remastering of the MGM catalog they've licensed.
Every major studio did terrible things to their film catalog back in the day. It was the hip thing to do.ljgranberry said:I didn't think so, but thought I'd express the hope. MGM should be flogged for what they did to THE ALAMO.
We must believe in Tarzi.Brandon Conway said:I don't think Kino is in the position to do any restoration or extensive remastering of the MGM catalog they've licensed.
Sadly, this only happened in the last 15-20 years. To make matters worse, they weren't the original producing studio. When a complete print was found in the early 90's, they improperly stored it.Brandon Conway said:Every major studio did terrible things to their film catalog back in the day. Ah, wasn't up on the info. Thx!ljgranberry said:Sadly, this only happened in the last 15-20 years. To make matters worse, they weren't the original producing studio. When a complete print was found in the early 90's, they improperly stored it.
Very remote to non-existent possibility that any 50's widescreen adventure film will ever be brought to blu-ray even without the necessity of restoration, hmm, nice to know. Maybe they can let them rot and disintegrate too.ljgranberry said:Very remote to non-existent possibility, but it'd be great if Kino Lorber undertook the restoration project on "The Alamo," since it appears MGM is content to let the uncut version slowly disintegrate.
