MisterLime, do you happen to know if Kino still hold the rights to Tarkovsky's Stalker? If so, is there any chance of a blu-ray release anytime soon? Thx.

I'm most excited about Paris Blues, a movie MGM never released on DVD. Hopefully this bodes well for future releases through Kino that never got a proper shake on DVD.

I wonder if Frank Tarzi will be as aggressive in the quantity of Noir film releases for Kino as he was for Olive. MGM has some great ones that have never been released:

The Long Wait (1954)The Naked Street (1955)Nightmare (1956)Witness to Murder (1954)Wicked Woman (1953)Baby Face Nelson (1957)He Ran All the Way (1951)Lonelyhearts (1958)Black Tuesday (1954)Storm Fear (1955)Shield for Murder (1954)Once a Thief (1950)Guns, Girls, and Gangsters (1959)Hit and Run (1957)I, the Jury (1953)The Man with My Face (1951)The Scarf (1951)

and a few that were only released as burned DVD-R by MGM:

99 River Street (1953)The Big Night (1951)The Captive City (1952)The Killer is Loose (1956)Tomorrow is Forever (1946)
The Boss (1956)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate it ;)

You're certainly not the only one who would be happy to see a bunch of those come out.

Separate Tables is another savory addition - worth picking up for Wendy Hiller's Oscar-winning performance alone. :)

The laser disc of Separate Tables had an alternate music track featuring David Raksin's isolated score including the original main title sans the Vic Damone vocal. Would be nice if this feature was ported over to the DVD/blu.

Oh baby, it looks like Tarzi & Co are making Kino into a new Olive Films type outlet in terms of the sheer volume of titles being released as well as newly remastered titles that never got proper due in digital. Something tells me this flood won't be abated anytime soon.

Still too early to be definite, but here's hoping.

I wonder if Marty will include the original Rod Steiger TV version as an extra
Licensing may be an issue. Criterion currently has it in print on DVD as part of their The Golden Age of Television release, licensed from Sonny Fox Productions.

If I were to pick my "Most Wanted on Blu" of the MGM classic Hollywood film holdings, they would be:

Cops and Robbers (1973) - A more obscure little gem that has a really old open matte DVD
The Lion in Winter (1968) - Seems right in line with the titles already announced - Twilight Time
The Long Goodbye (1973) - Criterion has for years been rumored to have it, but who knows?
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969) - DVD is a very old non-anamorphic image, IIRC

One title that doesn't "fit" the classic Hollywood label is:

Henry V (1989) - Easily my most wanted of their holdings.

This assumes that non-Hollywood productions are not part of this licensing agreement. If they are, however, I hope they would consider these titles, released by MGM on DVD under the "World Films" label:

Eat Drink Man Woman (1994)
Raise the Red Lantern (1991)
Rhapsody in August (1991)

And a few that would probably not be considered because they aren't "classic" style releases:

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)
Dreamchild (1985)
Suture (1993)
UHF (1989)

I'm also assuming most of the Woody Allen titles are with Twilight Time.

And, of course, the Pink Panther films of the 60s and 70s - including Inspector Clouseau (1968) - but I suspect if these ever come out they'll be via Fox distribution.
