James MacArthur has died, at 72, in Florida.

Besides being the orignal Danno, my fondest memories of his work are The Swiss Family Robinson, Kidnapped, and Battle of the Bulge. He was also well regarded in Theater. Within the last few years, I recognized a subtlety in his Danno character; I came to realize that Danno respected McGarrett, but despised him and wanted his job. Very nuanced actin by MacArthur to pull it off.
