Is it known for sure what titles will be released for volumes 3 and 4 of the James Bond blu ray sets?

I saw the following listed at several sites:

Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, Licence To Kill, GoldenEye and The World is not Enough.

Six New Blu-ray James Bond Titles Announced For March '09 - James Bond 007 - CommanderBond.net - James Bond At Its Best

However, I came across a modified list today.

«Vol. 3»: The World is not Enough, Goldfinger, Moonraker
«Vol. 4»: Licence to Kill, The Man with the Golden Gun, Quantum of Solace

I don't believe this second list is accurate, as Quantum Of Solace will be an individual release outset of a box set?

Thanks!

"The Spy who loved me" won´t probably not released in March because in Germany where I live Fox will release "Moonraker" instead of "The Spy who loved me".
So Fox USA will probably release "Moonraker" too.
The other 2 Bond movies that Fox Germany will release (March 27th) are Goldfinger and The World is not enough".

Unfortunaely, only 3 Bond Blu-rays will be released in March, not six:angry:

Quantum of Solace will probably not be part of the box sets. This is because Sony holds the video rights for both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, while the rest of the films are held by MGM and distributed by Fox (for the time being).

I thought the same thing, until today's announcement from MGM/Fox on the March release of Quantum. I guess it is the same old agreements, Sony has the theatrical rights and MGM has the home video rights.

I also would be very surprised to see this title in one of the volumes. The volumes are released to sell on top of the latest release.

Will Never Say Never Again be in the sets? If not, I hope they release it.

Thanks for the posts. I saw the following from the digital bits site..

By the way, we still expect the second wave of catalog James Bond films to arrive on Blu-ray Disc in March as well (likely day and date with Quantum). The latest (unofficial) information we have is that you can expect Goldfinger, GoldenEye, License to Kill, The World Is Not Enough, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker (see this Rumor Mill post from early December). Watch for an official announcement very soon.

Ugh. So they're going to swap The Spy Who Loved Me for Moonraker. If so that'll be one less Bond film I buy in March.

Can I ask what might be construed as a stupid question: Why do they not ever release the films in chronological order?

I've always assumed it was so you couldn't just buy the Connery ones or the Moore ones, etc. And even when they release them singly, you at least know that the other titles are available so you might pick them up.

The volume 3 titles (Goldfinger, Moonraker, & The World is Not Enough) are now up on Amazon.

IOW, they're trying to knudge people into buying every film in the franchise -- pretty much what all the studios try to do in their own ways... :D

FWIW, even after the previous batch got their individual releases, places like Amazon tried different approaches to get us to buy them all after a while (or even buying dupes in some cases :P) like during the BF shopping period -- and I wonder if MGM/Fox didn't have a hand in "sponsoring" that particular deal. :D

They are. In a way. You just have to buy them separately.

Disappointed that the picture of Pierce Brosnan on TWINE is back to front. Check the watch and the gun. Sloppy.

I hope there isn't playback issues with this batch like there was with the initial releases.

Thanks for the note about Moonraker, Goldfinger and The World Is Not Enough being up on Amazon.com! Hopefully the others will be listed soon.

What frames are missing from Goldfinger DVD?
I'm sure they will fix the oversight as they have been doing with the Ultimate Edition DVD's titles that are now out on blu ray.

Because it was produced by Broccoli/Wilson, and ignores the loose continuity of the other films, Never Say Never Again is not considered an "official" bond film. The book, BATTLE FOR BOND offers a good history on the story.

Edit:

Never Say Never again is controlled by MGM, and they just announced a SE Bluray.

The missing frames are at the 1:17:10 mark on the UE DVD (click the link in my post above. It's an entire thread about the issue.)

I'm not so confident that they will be fixed as they would have to go to the trouble of getting the frames from another source print.

But we shall see....

Looks like I'll be skipping these sets.

Had they put Goldfinger, Goldeneye, and Diamonds Are Forever in one box, I'd consider it, although the latter two aren't my favorites. The other three are really the bottom of the barrel though (TWINE is OK I guess).

I meant to respond to this earlier, but, well, there's something on today that's taking my attention :D. MGM got the rights back a while ago, and today they announced it will be released on Blu-ray in the next wave of titles.

The only thing that will make me buy Bond on BD is if they fixed Goldeneye. What they did there is completely unacceptable for a Ultimate Edition
