Amazon lists a release date for Universal's "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" on January 7, 2003. $19.98

Some how I'm guessing we will see a few other musical films released that month ("All That Jazz") due to the theatrical release of "Chicago"

The news was already posted, but got buried in another thread and didn't have the specific date. Thanks for that and the confirmation.
In fact, I can now confirm that entire list (including Whorehouse), plus a couple of others that I don't think Universal's put out before (though Goodtimes previously put out Born In East L.A.). All of these WILL be on the same date, 1/7/03:
TITLE SELECTION # UPC CODE RATING S.R.P.
    American Me 20574 025192057427 R $19.98
    Born In East L.A. 20191 025192019128 R $19.98
    CB4 22612 025192261220 R $19.98
    Imitation of Life (1959) 22611 025192261121 Not Rated $19.98
    Nurse Betty 22657 025192265723 R $19.98
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas 20220 025192022029 R $19.98
    The Matchmaker 22658 025192265822 R $19.98
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar 20021 025192002120 PG-13 $19.98
    North Shore 22732 025192273223 PG
Also, what looks like a repromote (perhaps with markdowns attached) of 41 other SKUs. Some of those SKUs are variations on the same title (ex: Apollo 13 and Apollo 13 DTS), but most are unique.

Is Nurse Betty a repricing or re-release? This one's been out for awhile.

Not sure; could be a rerelease or repricing, but it was lumped in with the definate new releases. Probably a placement error on the part of the guy who sorted the list.

    Alright, cool!

"CB4" and "Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"...sounds good to me.

My question is, with all that was cut out and changed in various versions of "Whorehouse", will the DVD feature anything related to that?

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

If you can get through a Hard Candy Christmas, you'll be rewarded duly, with any luck.

Nurse Betty was a USA Films title; that company has been absorbed into Universal through their "Focus" division.

I doubt Universal will be putting any extras on the "Whorehouse" DVD. There were two Dolly Parton songs which were in the director's cut which were removed before release. One appeared on the ABC broadcast sung by Burt Reynolds, the other appeared on Parton's album "Burlap and Satin" called "A Gamble Either Way" though was deleted from additional pressings. I would guess Universal wouldn't spend the extra money to clear the music rights.
Other scenes were also cut featuring Parton and the whorehouse "girls" These would be great to have on the DVD.

The New York print was in 4 track Mag Stereo. The film has never been released through Home Video in true stereo. I believe the Region 4 DVD is in mono and Pan & Scan. Here's hoping...

Great news!! One of my most anticipated titles that I've been waiting for Universal to step up on for a long time now. Here's hoping we get an adequate presentation!

I count this movie as a guilty pleasure of mine. It's completely cheesy, but the music is fun. Love the Charles Durning "Sidestep"!

I suspect Universal will just port over the same disc they offered in other regions.

Yep, the Charles Durning dance number is one of the more memorable moments on film. He really did quite a job on that!
