Since Criterion likes controversial directors', Polanski being one, and coming out with Repulsion, I'm wondering if they'll take a stab at restoring "Tess."
Ain't that always the way! I remember buying the original DVD release of Tron, only to have Disney release the 2-disc deluxe edition about 2 months later.
Posted by Richard--W: If you read the reviews at Amazon, the current version of Tess is a disaster. I tend to agree with you. Maybe it is because I have been watching upscaled DVDs for so long, but I do not have any problem with the current DVD version. Tess is my favorite Polanski film.
I hope what I'm about to add is not against the rules: In Vietnam I bought a Chinese made Polanski Collection that contains all of his best known films including some he made in Poland before his first hit there. The quality is good, and I won't have to wait for Criterion.
