In a sign of the times Toshiba closes two TV factories, lays off 3,000

    After working with Toshiba so intimately (like being in Tokyo three times a month) for three years on HD DVD, I began to really like the company. Remember they were the first to come out with a DVD player and the first to come out with a DVD player that had component outputs.

    However, fortune has not been going Toshiba's way, while not completely shutting down the department, Toshiba will be closing two TV factories and laying off 50% (3K employees) in the TV sector.

    It seems the next country to lead (and is leading) in consumer electronics is Korea. I thought China would, but those Korean's are pretty smart (I'm married to one!).
