Hmm. Well Link Removed reckon it's 2.35:1. As do Play.com for the DVD (both regions).
The dimensions of your image are: 186/105 = 1.77:1 so something's not right somewhere. ;)

You are absolutely right. I checked the couple of caps I took when I rented it, and they are 2.35. Mike is now officially up for banishment. :D
Ken, I did a little adjustment to your shot, if you don't mind. It looked a little dark to me. Here's the new one...
Oh no! Not in my post you don't, Ken!
And put down the shovel. You've dug deep enough.
I can actually do it a little better if I have a larger, less compressed version to start with. Since you have your own space, if you want to use it just transfer it over. If you want me to make if from a larger image, just send it to me.
Am I going to have to rent Amélie again just to get Steeve his cap?

Oh yeah! Since a couple of you were amused by the Total Recall sig I presented for Ken, I though I would give my personal variation on Rain's sig one more go here. I used it once before, but nobody even said a word. Maybe they were too embarrassed at having seen it, or didn't want to recognize I had created it.
View at your own risk. :D

Vid caps virtually always need at least some adjustment.

Where did the 16x9 format of Amélie come from? If it was done in 2.35:1, then Steeve needs the 2.35:1 version.

Okay, I just checked the scene again. Here are the differences:
Top: The cut is done between the top of the image and her ear.
Bottom: The cut is done at the middle of her higher finger.
So, basically, I have more information on the image compared to the actual scene on the DVD. Nothing's wrong with that! :)

EXCUSE ME???..........EXCUSE ME!?!?!?!?
Nothing's wrong with that?
More than OAR is not much better than less then OAR.
I don't like you any more!
Let's say, the next time you watch a movie. Two kids are on either side of you jumping up and down on the sofa through the whole thing. None of the "information" in the movie is lost. Is it OK?
It's not about "information," it's about COMPOSITION, and don't you forget it.
Woah, sensitive spot. :D

It depends. Of course, in several cases, more would be bad. But in this case, I really don't think it's bad. Actually, I'm not afraid to say that I prefer this image to the actual scene. More Audrey Tautou is always better than less! :D
But hey, I'm always open to other suggestions. It will take a very good picture though, because I really like the new one you did for me!

Point taken. That whole "you're not losing any information" thing always annoys me.

One: I hope I'm not really banished. I WAS just trying to help! :D
Two: I like Ken's new sig pic.
Three: Do you think I need a new sig pic?
Four: Your image of Rain's sig pic is...well....disturbing. Funny, mind you. But, disturbing! :D

I'm just glad someone finally acknowledged it. Now I don't feel the need to use it again. BTW, I'm completely harmless. Honest!

That's because I had 2 pictures. I only got one picture now. So, I'm cool. Besides. It's my webspace I'm storing it on.

That doesn't make any difference. It's the size of the image in bytes that matters as everyone else has to download it.
'Course, yours is only 9K so that's not a problem. The 100 pixel one would actually fit within the six rules on the left of the the signature code box in the profile settings.
I think we need to see this again:

I practically choked on my water when I saw it!! :D :D :D
Have you sent it to Rain???:emoji_thumbsup:
And Steve: Not OAR = not good!! Tut tut tut. :frowning:
;)

I think it is fine, all things considered. Aftger all, this thread was mostly a joke to begin with.
BTW, Ken, where is Skamokawa? I lived in Spokane for a couple of years, but have no idea where that is.

Acutally, they are concerned with both the physical size and the file size. Though Ken is not strictly following the guidelines, at 9K, I think he is fine.
Yes, but I was referencing his statement about where on the web he was storing it, in which case the dimensions made no difference - it was raw bandwidth we were talking about...
And technically it's not a spoiler if you've not seen the movie...
Sorry Steeve!!;)
