I didn't know Tom Hanks had done stand-up.

For that matter, I wasn't aware Dan Akyroid had done any either. SNL is comedy, but is it the same as doing a stand-up tour of comedy clubs? That's what I mean when I think of, and say, comedian. The ability to perform to multiple, frequent, and varied, live audiences. SNL is one night with a buttload of practise, and they use sets and props. Standup is you, a mic, a glass of water, and an audience expecting to be made to laugh. God help you if they don't...

I just would like to say that I had the pleasure of seeing Jim Carey do his stand up routin live in San Francisco. He was very funny and even commented on the T-shirt that I was wearing (three stooges).
