I nominate Walt Disney
Honorable mention: Frank Capra, Graham Chapman, River Phoenix, Marty Feldman
I'm guessing the final round will be Kubrick vs Hitchcock, with Kurosawa as a semi-finalist.

However, I'll be doing a "They should be stars" tournament soon, featuring our favorite non-stars who SHOULD be stars. I've got dibs on nominating Steve Buscemi and Janeane Garofalo!
IMO, both of those people are already "stars". Maybe not SUPER-stars, but certainly recognizable and celebrated enough to be considered stars.

Nominate Frank Capra! :)
I just finished watching It Happened One Night about 10 minutes ago! It is amazing how well that film holds up over time. A great movie, by a great director!

Well, I think they should be super-stars! :D I greatly prefer them to say, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts.

I nominate the late, great Mario Bava, who was one of horror's best and most influential directors.

I'd like to throw a vote out for the unforgettable Donald Pleasence. He was an amazing character actor with range and versatility. Films like THX-1138, THE GREAT ESCAPE and of course HALLOWEEN, would never have been the same without him.
"I SHOT HIM SIX TIIIIMES!"

Interesting idea. We'll see where it goes.
I nominate Fritz Lang.
Someone should consider Sergei Eisenstein.
