I was wondering if those trailers, that are on the four-disc edition but are missing from the three-disc edition, are available online anywhere?

not at all,

just my initial impressions.
got Sith in background...seems ok. no EX flag...consistent with Ep I and II.

Best disc picture this year is ROBOTS hands down.

will spin Charlie and Madagascar tonight.

Sound...interesting disc is CSI:NY - bloody great disc on a 185" screen, with good soundtrack extension. Amazing mix.

Best I've heard in a while.

185"!? Hot damn!

Let me ask you, Chris, how far do you sit from this monster of yours? If your blowing dvd up that large I would imagine the image quality would suffer if your too close.

Do you have a mini auditorium built onto your house? ;)

far away to make it look small? :frowning:
it's all relative.

image quality does not suffer at all.
just a matter of technology.

smaller plasma is brighter, not necessarily sharper though.

I'm homeless...so I bunk in the lounge, or the lounge is part of work.

dunno...home/work?

To misquote Max the Freelance Detective: "That's the second biggest home theater I've ever seen!"

I dunno. Seems a bit too big and impersonal to me. And if watching Titanic on that setup leads you to this conclusion:

How good could it really be? ;)

good? :b

I've only been testing on the 50" plasma this morning.
The fun starts tonight.

Ask other Panny 500 owners how good their picture is.
Don't knock it if you haven't seen it.

I'd be the first to call crap for what it is.

Be patient padawans.

Seeing is believing.

Any fixed pixel display is auto-scaled.

The black levels are fine so long as room is dark.

No screen door (whole point of 3 chip LCD) except some horizontal lining on SOME pans. 99% of the time unseen.

Best bang for your PJ buck.

doesn't make sense, but I've seen UNACCEPTABLE screen door on an InFocus DLP projector. do they make LCD?

I watched the "Titanic" movie last night.

Firstly, I didn't see the reported glitch and I was really looking!

Secondly, the picture is fantastic and so is the sound.

The packaging is also excellent.

Now, one thing about the sound is that the dialogue in the centre channel seems to be mixed quite low in the overall DTS mix I thought.

This means that you turn it up to hear what people are saying clearly and then have your head blown off and your speakers blown up when they suddenly go to the boiler room or another loud scene.

Did anyone else notice this when you listened to yours?

Yes I did notice that. I finally watched my Titanic DVD on Sunday evening. Haven't seen it since it was at the cinema. I totally enjoyed it.

I had the DTS sound on and I agree about how low the center channel is and how loud the other scenes were. I had to keep the remote close by so the neighbors can still keep on a friendly basis.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I'd be the only one.

I found the centre channel dialogue easy to understand BUT it was definately lower in the mix than other DVD's.

Anyone else find this?

I will attest to the greatness of the Panny projector since I have one too. :emoji_thumbsup: That being said, 185 inches might be stretching it a bit though. Most reviewers feel that anything much bigger than 110 or so for these PJ's quality will suffer somewhat.

But still 185! Dang, that's big. I thought my theater was big. I'm a fraud! :D

Titanic looks great though and the sound rocks too.

I also LOVE the new THX trailer. Coolness.

The Panny 500 is rated to go up to 200". Da-Lite couldn't make anything bigger than 185" wide, only 4x3.

ok, watched first 30 mins, and some extras.

I like how the disc loads straight to movie menu - nothing else! Only the bonus disc has all the intros.

The opening title is kinda soft.
The bass on DTS track is kinda high.
The dialogue is low.

The picture is pretty clean and bright. EE is virtually absent.

I do prefer the sound on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (bass), and CSI:NY even more (balance and clarity, with high levels to boot).
