Finally ordered and received this Blu-ray. Watched it
for the first time yesterday afternoon.

You know, I rarely see anything from Fox Searchlight
that I don't like. I love the their little niche of films which
are very unique and quite often a nice breath of fresh air
from the normal Hollywood fare.

I wouldn't say that 500 Days of Summer is anything
exceptional. The biggest problem it has going for some
guys like myself is the reminder of the awful heartache
involved in finding that first love -- the girl of your dreams --
and having your heart broken when the relationship doesn't work
out. Films like this often stir such memories a result, the film
isn't necessarily upbeat.

On the other hand, I kind of like it when these kinds
of stories are told in such an original and sweet manner.
We are shown the outcome of the relationship at the
very beginning of the film, the rest is a dissection of
sorts as to what went wrong.

Certainly, a very original kind of love story. More
"close to home" as to what first love (and sometimes
second and third) is really like. Nice to see this kind
of story being told.

I interpreted the movie a bit differently based on the last few minutes. Having been married for fifteen years I may have a different perspective.

Where he meets Autumn in the park. Also a pretty funny joke as Autumn follows Summer. Combine this with is conversation with Summer in the park where she explains how it happened to her. You will find love, you just don't know when or where and its not something that you can force.
For anyone considering this title its on sale at Target this week along with a lot of other Fox BDs for $12.99

Adam:

An interesting aside about the scene you spoilerized above:

From the way that scene was shot (she's wearing a trench coat and is in a head/shoulders shot for much of the scene), I thought for sure there was going to be a "reveal" that she was pregnant. In fact, I thought she looked to be pregnant underneath the trench. Then, after it didn't happen, I figured there must have been some alternate ending...but I guess that didn't happen either and I was just hallucinating the entire thing.
