Can anyone offer a suggestion....

I have to dye silicon oil without making emulsion. It also cannot dissolve in water after making the mixture.

Here's exactly what I'm doing: I have a cylinder of water and I want to have colored oil on top of the water.

I've already tried oil-based paint, but there was way too much emulsion.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

No guarantees but you should be looking for an oil-soluble dye. One thought would be to hit up a body repair shop and see if someone will give you small samples of paint concentrate. Tell them it's for your son's school project or something. Then, place a drop of the concentrate on something like cheesecloth and pass the silicone oil over it. This ought to trap most of the particulates. Other than that, you can also do a google search for manufacturers and see if they'll toss you an evaluation sample of some of their dyes.
